When I put Ohlin's on my C2, I set the height to X74 spec, which seems to be in the range of the GT3 specs.

Suggestion
It's important with these cars to put it within the factory range unless you begin adjusting for bump steer.

The current RH with the ohlins will be set around Ohlins recommended with changes being the adjustments that were made for corner balancing.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Can someone post or direct me to what/where the suspension settings should be for the 996 GT3 .1
and the specs of the 996.2 GT3
im trying to determine what settings I should use on my new Ohlins R/T
thanks

That’s all I have on vehicle height.
Neither differentiates between 996.1 and 996.2 GT3.
Maybe check in the GT3 Forum.

Not sure where these magical shops are but I went to a handful of high end, well known Porsche shops with my GT3 in Los Angeles and they all thought my car was too low. Except when I checked the height the front was in the middle of the range and the rear was at the highest of the range. Shops see so few 996 GT3s that I've learned to know the specs myself and confirm with them first.
I had a conversation with 4porsh about this and he's had to argue with alignment shops on his specs (he's the highest level instructor at PEC and a professional driver). So, yeah, when it comes to GT3s most places don't know in my experience.
I was before but I'm on Ohlins R&T now. AFAIK, the suspension still needs to work within the factory specs unless you begin changing other things to correct for bump steer. Bump steer is a big issue in these cars so you have to be very careful about geometry changes. With that being said,
@NYPOWR4
unless you're changing the other suspension bits to get the geometry right, gt3 settings will be too low for a non-GT car.
When I put Ohlin's on my C2, I set the height to X74 spec, which seems to be in the range of the GT3 specs. I'm at 110 on the fronts and 120 and 130 on the rear (corner balance makes them different)
Not ever having adjustable shocks I started with the big pillow setting of 15 and 15. I had problems with speed bumps in the rear so I changed to 15/10 f/r. Problem solved. I don't track, 50% of commute is on freeway, 50% on fun roads.
Today I changed to heavier GT3 wheels and the suspension response change is quite noticeable, everything responds slower. May just be the added weight. I'll play with the Ohlin's setting to see what goes. We'll see.
Lol the JjIC/Cross coil overs were lower to the ground then the Ohlins this was my car when I bought it last year after I got it I raised it 20mm and that was still 10mm lower then the settings of the Ohlins today
The current RH with the ohlins will be set around Ohlins recommended with changes being the adjustments that were made for corner balancing. Given our cars are different weights, there is of course optimization to be had if you wanted to go that route but I would say as it sits, its probably in a pretty good place.
I never had clearance issues, never scraped the skid plate and the handling of the car was very good. I would not worry too much about ride height unless you feel it needs to be raised more. I'd get the alignment dialed, specifically camber as that should be where the biggest impact from the change is, have the sway bar pre load set and rip the **** out of it - it should demolish most everything you see on the streets.
Oh no I was commenting about Ryan post
I’m more then satisfied with the new height the ride is definitely more compliant with Ohlins
I was commenting the difference of coil over companies and there ride as low as my car was with the JIC it rode well
but I wanted better that’s why I bought the Ohlins and I should good forever
It's important with these cars to put it within the factory range unless you begin adjusting for bump steer. So, if you're only changing coil overs and shooting for GT3 height, your suspension will be compromised. For a street car, I wouldn't set it at GT3 height. My C2 was set to euro height I believe and handled fantastic without any issue of scraping. My gt3 is at risk of scraping everything and is a challenge to get into my drive way.
I'm running my car at 105mm front and 130mm rear. Does not seem to need bump steer fix at this height. Does require attention to get in and out of sloped areas. The front splitter is a mess.
Last year I ran 110mm front and 120mm rear. I have been told that adding front rake will improve the handling.
This is with GT2/GT3 front wheel carriers.
Ok sweet. Wrapping up of list of parts that I'll need to finish this project up, really just missing the camber mount and and some washers now.
@RyanH.
's diagram gave me the preload info I needed when putting the suspension together. I'm asking these questions only to get an idea of how high(or low in this case) I'll need to set the car before tinkering with it.
Thanks for the input boys I love the look of a slammed 911 but living in nyc doesn’t love me back
I will be sending it to a pro shop after I find out where I’m leaking a little oil first
Track identical, wheel offsets different (and wheels wider also) 8.5 Vs 8 front, 11 Vs -10 rear.
As important as ride height, is rake. *** down, front end up and flapping about in the breeze under hard acceleration, will do the handling no favours.
