Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

did you put in OEM Porsche batteries (wind tunnel tested).....
Leading evidence: 'Test )' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace battery in about 1995' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

used it what seemed like everyday till I finally had to change the battery in about 1995?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am posting this here, as well in the Boxster forum, as the remotes are basically the same and I want to reach the largest possible audience for solution. I apologize if this may violate any forum rules.
I began having a problem with the remote for my 2002 Boxster. It seems to work OK (albeit with very limited range) with a fresh battery, but whereas the original battery lasted 7 years, lately batteries are only lasting a week or two before the voltage drops from 3 volts to 2.5 volts and the remote won't send a strong enough signal for any function. Has anyone run up against this problem? Anyone know a solution? I have gone through 4 batteries in the last 6 months and each only puts out about 2.5 volts.
hmmm, its funny - I had a calculator in 1985 that I got for a graduation gift.. used it what seemed like everyday till I finally had to change the battery in about 1995? since then I go thru batteries about 1 set/yr - I often wonder if I should have left the original dead one in there
I have not heard of the 996/986 having this same issue but suggest 2 things. 1. try to buy batteries you know are new (fresh) and not been on a shelf somewhere for 4 years. 2. try keeping the remote out of your pocket (ie on a belt ring) and see if maybe you are "accidently" depressing the button while its in your trousers...
best of luck, hope you find an answer.... and since my calc is dead can you help me with some simple math... 2+2= 9??
LOL
I kind of think the flat batterys just aren't worn beans anymore. Then possibly when a remote is loosing it circuit wise it might have a worn out diode or such that leaves a constant drain on the battery. What ever the case its nothing new the problem you are having.
