1. My 1995 993
Carrera
4 Cabriolet has developed an oil leak. It looks like it is coming from the a valve cover gasket. I have 55,000 miles. Up until now the car has had very few and only minor problems and has not required any significant service, none in the last 10,000 miles. Upon putting it on the lift it also looks like the
spark plug
wires need replacing. So I figured as long as I have to have it taken apart I might as well do all valve cover gaskets, wires and new plugs. What else would you recommend I do at this time? What about adjusting the valves?
2. I have also had a minor problem with the clutch pedal. After the car sits a while I find the pedal on the floor. I have to lift it up with my foot and then its fine. I had the system checked for leaks, evacuated and filled with new fluid but it didn't help. I was told it could be the
master cylinder
. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what solved the problem?
3. I have replaced three of the four struts that hold the front and rear hoods open but the replacements don't seem to last long at all. This causes the hoods to close by themselves. I cant get to the bottom connection point of one of the struts in the front (passenger side), so I can't replace it. Has anyone else experienced this and if so do you have a solution?
4. I am in Nassau County, Long Island, NY. I am looking for an honest, reputable, knowledgeable and economical mechanical that I can rely on to do the job properly. I am looking for recommendations for a shop other than a local Porsche dealer which I believe will be too expensive.
Thanks.
Jamie
If NYC if your local area, go here
PCA Metro NY Region POST
figure out who the tech guys are and ask them for recommendations. They will know.
I try to avoid NYC and will never bring the Porsche there with its terrible traffic and roads. I am in Nassau County on Long Island. Looking for someone local. Anyway thanks for the information, the PCA Metro NY also covers Long Island and I will contact them. After looking at the magazine, I see plenty of places to bring the car and I am thinking I would like to meet members of the club with the intention of joining.
Try this site. Put in your zip code and it will list repair shops in your area. This will get you started. Good luck......

Thanks. I had tried that previously. Believe it or not, it only lists two places in the entire county.
Has anyone had any experience with Rudtner's South Shore Performance in Freeport, NY?
