Suggestion

Front needs the subframe dropping necessitating a geometry check (I changed this one and a real challenge proping up the fuel tank) I changed the steering rack rigid pipes at the same time.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Help on ball park price for repair required and how tricky a task the pipes are to change. I had an MOT advisory last year for n/s front & o/s front pipe corroded. A week ago the brake fluid warning came on so i topped it up the tank with approx quarter litre and car was braking/drving fine. Yesterday the brakes were very spongy and the brake pedal went to the floor giving the feeling of pumping fluid out. I topped the tank up again and put oil spill pads on the floor along both n/s & o/s and pumped the brake pedal a couple of times. Brake fluid appears to be leaking quite badly from n/s rear only. There was a post somewhere (which i can no longer find) referring to dropping the engine & gear box to replace lines. Is this necessry? Rough idea on parts and Indy prices would be helpful if anyone has experienced the same. Thanks

Hi Baz. Long time no see. Is this the thread you were looking for :?: http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?...storder=asc&highlight=brake+lines+replacement

POST 3Original post

Kev at DW performance made new brake lines for my 996 C4s Don't know cost , as it was part of a big bill . But wasn't horrible

POST 4Original post

I've replaced all of mine with OEM pipes. I think the most expensive was under the front n/s wing to connector block just in front of rear wheel x 2 at £57 each. All the bends are correct as are the connectors. There are the hose to caliper ones at about £12 each. All of the caliper metal pipes needed mole grips to remove on mine as corroded so badly! From a labour perspective the front left to right and rear over gearbox will be expensive. Front needs the subframe dropping necessitating a geometry check (I changed this one and a real challenge proping up the fuel tank) I changed the steering rack rigid pipes at the same time. The rear one needs the gearbox dropping. I asked GCR to change it when doing the clutch. I recon 4 and 8 hours respectively (diy guesstimate) for these difficult/involved ones. The rest I think 5 hours tops (4x caliper, N/S front, N/S rear & 4 hoses. Ian

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks T8, that's the very thread. And yes, it's been a while....trust all is well?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info Guy/Payne Car went in to the Indy this morning so we'll see what he comes back with as he can be a little hit n miss with prices sometimes. Parts seemed a lot cheaper than expected on google search and on prices Payne outline above but its the labour that concerns me as it could be a cash cow of a repair for him.
