Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

A close friend of mine has a 2009 Carrera 4S with a quirky problem. I told him about Planet 9 expertise and that I would post his problem since the dealership was not able to help. He puts key in. If he hears a click, car starts. If he doesn't hear a click, nothing happens when he turns key-car doesn't start. If he then pulls the key out and reinsert, he hears the click and it starts every time. Usually happens after he's driven car and park it for 1-1.5 hours in the sun and then come back to car and try to restart. He puts the key in and don't hear the clicking sound from the dash and car doesn't start until he pullsl key out and reinsert it. He replaced the control unit ignition starter switch-did not solve problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
