I modified the standard door enclosures and fitted JL C3-650 6.5" speakers (which is invisible once the door card is on), some 4" focal ISN speakers to the dash and a kenwood class d 4 channel amp to replace my standard hifi amp (powering the door and dash speakers from the amp and the rear speakers from the double din alpine head unit).
Leading evidence: 'Install jl c3-650 6' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check which ohm’s i need' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I’m really no expert on this but I’ve re wired the 4 (dash and rear) speakers back to the head unit (Ali Express PCCM+ clone) and then ran an RCA cable from the HU to the space in the frunk where the old amp lived.

I’m not in a rush it’s almost hibernation time for my car but i definitely plan to pop one out to check which ohm’s I need for the stock amp.

Series/parallel if you ran the 2 x 2ohm in parallel that would provide a resistance of only 1ohm to the amp, whilst some high end amps might be ok with this I think that would fry mine so series was the only option.

My original intent was to run the door woofers only to 125hz or so, but I guess partly due to location and size, they sound better than the 4" focals for midrange duties and give the setup more depth, so I...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

HAES are original fitment for many Porsche installations - 2 Ohm would require less current, but the amp is probably 4 ohm and too much for 2 ohm speakers. Maybe?
In after some front door speakers after upgrading my dash and rears for 4” hertz 100.3 speakers
Have you got a link to your door speakers & have they gone straight in?
Have you checked what door speakers you have? I thought I had 2ohm speakers (forums suggested they were 2ohms) until I checked and found 4 ohms.
Here’s the link (I haven’t received them yet)

I wouldn’t trust what you’ve read online. I’ve got the amp, just not the sub, you? If you’ve got 2ohm speakers you could try these - I was about to buy them (and discard the tweeters)

I’m fitting a new mono lock amp in the front to drive the door speakers, mine both measure 2ohm from the amp position (I’ve not removed door cards) so I plan to run them in series to get 4ohm total for the amp.

Will you be able to do a write up? I’m just about to abandon the PCM2 / CD changer / MOST amp and fit a single din Blaupunkt driving just the 4 10cm speakers in the dash / rear side panels directly(these speakers have been upgraded). I’ve found a Connects2 harness PC2-95-4 that will link the head unit to the speaker wires at the amp. It has plugs to fit the stereo and the OEM amp connector block and about 1.5m of cable to route through the bulkhead.
Phase 2 is to upgrade the door bass speakers and fit a new amp to drive them. The blaupunkt has 2 pre-amp out phono connections on the back for bass speakers Its the wiring of these I’m struggling with - phono cables to the Amp is easy its the series / parallel thing and speaker choice (ohm rating). Also, can I leave the 4 speakers driven by the head unit and ‘amp’ the bass speakers or should all 6 go through the amp? The Blaupunkt also has 4 phono pre-outs for normal speakers (so 6 pre-out phono’s in total)
I’m really no expert on this but I’ve re wired the 4 (dash and rear) speakers back to the head unit (Ali Express PCCM+ clone) and then ran an RCA cable from the HU to the space in the frunk where the old amp lived. I then swapped this out for the monoblock amp which I then connected up to the original door speaker wiring running them in series.
I have an issue with the HU not seeming to output a sub signal on the designated sub output lead so I’ve just connected it to one of the standard RCA output leads and it seems to work just fine it just means that the sub volume control on the HU doesn’t work. I have a gain control and lpf on the amp plus a remote level control for it too so no big problem.
This all works well but I’m not looking for hifi quality just to be able to play music and run mapping when I’m driving boring sections.

Here are 6.5s in mine keeping the original enclosures:

Hey, very interested to hear what you did in the end, looking to replace my door speakers too. I’m wondering if there was changes to the speakers throughout the years .1/.2 etc..
just replaced both sets of 4” with Rockford fosgates which sound great
I’ve ordered some Audison AP5’s but delivery has been delayed
I may cancel and order somewhere else. Looking forward to trying them in the doors though..
Standard eh, I’ve had that loads the past 2 years so much so I contact prior to purchase to ensure they actually have physical stock… crazy days.
Well I hope you get sorted and look forward to the updates.
I’m not in a rush it’s almost hibernation time for my car but i definitely plan to pop one out to check which ohm’s I need for the stock amp.
I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole.
Cheers for the reply
I specifically went for them because they should slot straight in.
Interestingly I’ve removed the dash speakers at the moment as they came loose and were rattling. So I’m now running just the rear speakers and doors. The doors are a lot more prominent now so I’m wondering if the improved dash speakers were drowning out the oe door speakers..
