Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Does anyone know who can rewire these?  I've had a quote for approx $800 for the harness from PCA but surely there's other options? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Did you get anywhere with this?  Maybe post a pic of the harness.  The problem is generally to get correct terminals for the various connectors, often special or otherwise very hard to find, Have you spoken to auto electrical places, preferably some old-school types.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Showed three old-school auto electricians and they all said no before I even showed them what I had.   All said "I've been burnt by trying to do this sort of work..." Rang Porsche dealerships (Sydney South and Parramatta) and both said that the wiring isn't available.  It is for 996.1 lights, but not 996.2  Rang Hella who make them under license. The guy I spoke to knew what I was after and basically said that it is made under license and therefore there's no part they can offer. Then it comes to the connectors.  I'm relying on rennlist and renntech and all answers point to connectors are not sold anywhere. However a mate of mine is willing to re-wire it.  He wires RC choppers and planes so used to that sort of delicate work. Attached is an example and certainly not the worse of it.  The worse is deep inside the housing

POST 4Original post

Install heat shrink around the individual wires so they can't rub and short circuit. I did that for my MB C200 about 4 years ago, works well.
