Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The base is really there to provide different fitment options, use of sliding rails, etc.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I just bought a 996 C4S with Recaro Pole Positions. I have a 996 C2 in which I put a pair of 997 sport seats in (back and height issues....). I am very surprised to find that I am sitting higher in the Recaros than I am in the Sport seats... The Recaros are as low as they go, are on runners and the chap who installed them put in "the thinnest mounting base" thats available (I dont have the name/brand yet). I know you can remove the runners but I do want to keep them. I've been down rabbit holes with things like this before so I am hoping someone on here might be able to help before I spend the whole weekend on google....
Pick up the car on Monday so dont have access right now. Its a full base plate, square between the 4 mounting points, sliders then recaro mounting side plates to the seat. Dont suppose you have a photo of yours?
I put up a post a few down from here asking for people's takes on a number of seats and one thing I pointed out was that I wanted to get lower than 997 seats ideally but any ive sat in with Recaros were higher (one of these was a gt3rs with factory nomex recaros)
I think ill end up with the Cobra Nogaros, they 100% are lower than the 997 seats, i tried them back to back. They put a lot of time in designing the mounts to do so by all accounts.
Bit late to the chat but this is the current set up. Thats a Planted base, runner then Recaro mounting plates. Not hard to see the increase the sliders cause, by the looks of it the only height reduction available is to remove them.
Does anyone know why the base is used?
Looking at the original seats the slider is also the frame for securing the seats to the car. I suspect the recaro adjustment handel is the reason why thats not been replicated.
Has anyone mounted the recaros directly onto the stock sliders before?
Didn’t ELA do modified runners in his car? I know it was a long time ago might be some info there ..
I like the Corbeau GT3 replicas but haven’t found anyone with them ..
Not much help with your problem but I definitely second the 997 seats sitting super low in the car. I've actually had to jack the seat up a bit to see out confidently. Which was a nice surprise being 6 foot tall. This just reaffirms my belief that the 997 seats are the best solution for the 996.
Are these the Recaro side mount brackets you're using ?

I’m very got planted bases in a 997 and GT3 style seats. From memory they sit lower than the 997 sports seats, although could be wrong. I suspect it’s the side mounts that are an issue, rather than the (probably around 4mm) planted plate.
The base is really there to provide different fitment options, use of sliding rails, etc. you could technically bolt the she de mounts to the car directly, but only as long as the bolt holes lined up and any spacing was considered to get a flat level (unless the side mounts are specifically designed to cater for the floor pan.
I have the Porsche Recaro seats in mine which don't seem high and I am 6ft and have plenty of head room. Are you a basketball player Pec996 ? I am not sure what set up holds them in place but will have a look once home. I think it maybe something similar to Slippydiff's posted runner.

I'm 6ft 2... I will get some photos and measurements across early next week as I have a 996 C2 with 997 seats, with originals going back in and a C4S with the recaros and a couple of alternative mounts coming. Will try and work out a way of doing a uniform measurement.
