The changes are subtle but the change in the drive pleasure is huge  Best $2k I've ever spent on a car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

FYI --- For all my fellow 992.1 GT3 ( touring mostly ) owners ... finally the solution has arrived in Australia by the looks of it. Most of us with these cars know that suspension and tuning setup comes out of the factory set up as a track car , and for reasons best known to Porsches they sent out the touring cars with same set up as clubsport cars ... which in all honesty makes the car jittery on anything but the smoothest of roads . Litchfield in the uk announced a purely software upgrade late last year and Chris Harris got the word round pretty quick  , the hardware in the 991.2 is identical to ST and with a software remap you can get ST handling and a much surer footed drive actually set up for roads rather than lap times .. the whole reason people have raved about the ST  . Litchfield were talking to me about sending pre loaded lap tops over but have gone quiet on the idea and it now turns out Adrian at MRtuning in Queensland has the same solution, and I'm guessing the rights for Australia  ,  and as well as doing cars up there is consider a trip down to melbourne to do the same for any Victorian's if there's enough interest . $2k , couple hours, fully reversible From the reports I've had from Uk friends it transforms the car into what it should always have been .

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just as a follow up to those who may be interested - and no it's probably no interest to the track rats or Collin's St cruisers ... but if you like to drive your GT3 992.1 hard on the twisties ... read on Adrian from @mr_tuning Brisbane finally had a day to come down to melbourne this week and do a few cars mine included . i went out Friday morning early and did my usual peninsula circuit , unfortunately it reminded me why I've driven the car so little ... it just wasnt sure footed or predictable . Every bump , pothole and undulation unsettles the car , you could live with that if it was predictable but the rebound never took me the same way twice so you literally spend a 2 hour paced drive 'correcting' the steering and never relaxing . I dropped car with Adrian for a couple hours whilst I got some city chores done . Simple lap top plug in and re program of settings  . The suspension components are all identical to ST only some of the software coding is slightly different . Took the car for the same peninsula loop yesterday and it really is transformed . The changes are subtle but the change in the drive pleasure is huge  Best $2k I've ever spent on a car. Road imperfections now do not unsettle the car in anything like the same way , you hit a big undulation in the bitumen mid corner and you stay on course, as a result you feel more confident to carry more speed and hold a steady line , but more importantly I got home having enjoyed it not been frustrated by it . drives on road  like every other Gen of GT3 I've had with a road biased set up highly reccomended ps Adrian can also program out your wing rise to a higher km point so it doesn't look shit doing 90 on the Monash in traffic 😜

POST 4Original post

I have heard that some of the perceived changes from the tuning are all in the head and only go someway towards improving the ride. Plus I understand that the main issue with the ride is the springs and the re-programming of the dampers doesn't address that. So I decided to take a different path to achieve a more tangible difference in the ride by getting a set of softer springs specifically designed for the GT3 Touring from the highly regarded Suspension Secrets in the UK.  They are 15% softer in the rear and 12 % softer in the front. https://shop.suspensionsecrets.co.uk/products/suspension-secrets-soft-spring-conversion-kit-porsche-911-gt3-touring-992 . They also provide a set up sheet to revise the geometry to reduce the tramlining of front end and compliment the springs. For $2,155, it's pretty much the same price as the re-programming but with a purported materially better outcome. Mine go on next week. Looking forward to the "new ride".  And so is my wife!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can tell you categorically that's not the case .... the difference in the car on same roads in same conditions  24 hours apart is hugely noticeable . and  there is no 'softening'  as such  , if I wanted it softer  I'd have bought a GTS 😜 ...you still feel like you are in a very firm Gt3 (even if it is drive by wire)  , and you feel all the communication up from the road surface but as it rebounds it rebounds on course rather than wanting to wander off ., the damper rebound rate and its effect on steering is definitely where you notice it if you know what you are looking for ... having thrown a couple ST around similar roads it obvious Porsche could have done this all along for touring just in software as they then did on ST and now on .2.... hardware including springs is all the same . Week in tassie starts Thursday with wife joining for last couple days so maybe  she'll wish it was 'softer ' but the alternative plan was 968CS m030 with no Ac , and last time she came was 996GT3CS so she can thank me regardless 🤣
