Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I expected it to run slightly rough as although it has a MAF delete remap on it (it will run perfectly with the MAF entirely unplugged) it would have to adapt to sucking air straight into the Y pipe on one side rather than through the normal induction (pretty much OEM, despite the MAF delete remap).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, my 2002 996 Turbo (tiptronic) has had a very intermittent fault code for a while which I suspect was being caused by a sticking variocam lift solenoid at 3,000 rpm when hot. Yesterday I replaced it with a new one and when I test started the car (with the intercooler still removed) it fired immediately as normal, idled normally (for a cold start) for a few seconds then stumbled and died. I tried it again with exactly the same result. So it seems Ive not replaced the valve properly, but I followed the pelican parts guide (link below) pushed it in with reasonable force and it seemed well seated, I orientated it with the locating pin facing up as per the guide and original install and the retaining bracket seemed to go on snugly. But I'm thinking that if it is rotated slightly off, then the oil channels won't line up and it will cause the issues Im seeing? If that's I dont know how to get it 100% accurately lined up? Could the issue just be the removal of the intercooler? Any help is grateful appreciated as always! Hmmm, it seems maybe it was just a case of the car relearning its idle? Tried to start it again this morning, same symptoms, but it idled for a bit longer. Read fault codes (see below) Tried again, and it idled a bit better. Tried it again and it hunted, but then seemed to be much more stable, but still hunting a little?
