Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

That leak is exactly where my one was coming from but it was the water pump for me.
Leading evidence: 'water pump' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'water pump' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check here' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So just picked up a 996 and noticed a droplet of coolant. Expansion tank also well below minimum. Had a look and the tank doesnt seem cracked. Im thinking its these 2 coolant hoses i think ? They look quite swollen ... water pump looks dry too. Gonna degrease the whole area and see if i can pinpoint it but thought see if anyone can confirm its the hoses from the photos
Been a while since I sold my 996 but those hoses are not in the “pristine” category. I think you’re right with the leak coming from the house clamp, those hoses deteriorate while the metal clamp does not so the clamp effectively cuts through the hose.
That leak is exactly where my one was coming from but it was the water pump for me. So be mindful of that.
Also 'Green' coolant isn't the correct flavour for our blocks. We need be to G12(G12+ / G12++) otherwise know a G40 in porsche speak
Liquid Intelligence in Sydney where I got my stuff from.
So looking at ordering parts and seen alot of back and forth ive seen regarding metal vs composite impeller on the waterpump. Got quoted by a Geba unit (metal impeller) from autohaus so will probably go that way.
Also seen reference of g12 pink coolant over the green stuff. About to grab couple of these nulon pink coolant however (

) all the supercheap , repco websites say its not right for the 996.1 c4 and it recommends the green coolant ... i assume pink is fine but thought id check here to confirm.
