Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have a new-to-me 991.1 C4S with a weird smell whenever I come to stop. It only happens after the car is fully warmed up and blows through the AC vents. To me is smells like great oil or ATF fluid. Its not engine oil and not the " porsche perfume". The smell is bad enough to make me want to roll down a window but only lasts for a few seconds after coming to stop. I have awd, so is there something in the differential ventilation system that could have come lose?

POST 3Original post

I had my son helped me with an oil change. He wasn't watching closely and the filler funnel over filled. Oil went behind the carpet, and now hides in the frame of the car. Getting into the car, it smells like oil, and the excess is slowly finding its way out of the frame onto the garage floor. If you have no leaks onto the floor, then your issue is likely oil burning on a hot surface somewhere on the engine or exhaust system. If your mechanic cannot see the issue while on car is on a rack, then have them check the engine compartment for a leak that is burning off.

POST 4Original post

My truck had similar symptoms which turned out to be an engine oil leak. The smell only occurred when idling since moving air would blow over the engine while in motion so it wasn't noticeable.
