Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm fairly new to the forums, so what a great way to introduce myself.
True Story.
1) Less than two weeks ago I buy a 996 Pcar on a Wednesday after the PPI at a shop. Go over car fully brakes/suspension check-out that weekend.
2) Then 1 week of feeling out handling comfort zone of the awesome slightly understeer very neutral AWD in the Porshce 996 ( 3rd gear is a dream on twisty canyon roads ) Front end doesn't wash out it pulls right through any corner with no hit of over steer.
3) After 10 days ownership, took it on an out-of-state 550 mile road trip to Portland International Raceway on a gorgeous Pacific Northwest Day. Flogged on it finding it's limits. The PSM (Porsche stability management) system was nice to have some times when I over-cooked it too hot into a corner.
A full DE / Lapping day event. Between 5 sessions in my car for novice class, and another 5 twenty minute sessions in Jeff's advance class race prepp'ed early 911, I got in a total of around 200 minutes of track time that day.
I called it our honeymoon together, the car and I bonding. My ribs are still sore from Jeff's 5 point harness's. My seat conforms well to my butt now.
I LOVE the AWD and C4S wide body.
Squeal for me tires, Ah said SQUEAL. what a good track day. She's a keeper after two weeks of ownership.
Here's a short entertaining 3 minute video of some little Carreras playing around on the track. Note the 100 foot braking markers at the end of the straights and how fast they come up.......Brakes = Good.

I just bought a turbo front bumper cover and some areo 2 side skirts . I like the 40th ae look.
Looking at a couple ducktails , not sure on those though
[QUOTE=NYoutftr;4424761]Nice, what front splitter is that?
David
Thanks. It's from GT3 TEK. Good quality and good fit for an aftermarket part. It did require a few additional fasteners in addition to the supplied attachment method, but I didn't mind since it's a track car.
Thanks. So it is a regular front bumper cover with the gtek splitter?
I have the Aero/GT3 bumper and looking to get a front splitter that is not too low.
Some mfg say splitter is same fit, Aero/GT3 and regular bumper,
Other mfg say they are not interchangeable.

Love your story. Truly using and enjoying your car for it's intended purpose. I really enjoy the track video and my wife and I had a huge laugh when you passed the little Honda out there. You see, around here there are always these little Hondas trying to race us. Not Mercedes, Corvettes, Mustangs etc. Just always some little Honda coming alongside of me wanting to race! No thanks. And now to see one a the track, hahahahaha. Cheers
I'm am dying to get side skirts and a front lip for my new to me mkII 996
I found gt3 replica sides for $500, but am having a hard time finding a decent front lip or bumper option?
*not willing to spend over $1,500 on the front bumper/lip... Searches are only showing up fiberglass parts. any help would be much appreciated
That bumper looks unbelievable! Where did you get it?
My carerra has a few bad scratches and dents on the front bumper so I was looking at the Turbo bumper as a replacement
*Had the dealer swap my wheels from the twists to the 5 spoke wheels for free and couldn't be happier
most aftermarket bumper replacements require re-fitting of the rad shrouds so that they fit tight to the front of the bumper.without them or if they dont fit, you lose airflow to cool the rads. your photo looks like the shrouds are not there at all. is that right or just photo angle?
Heres my new toy. 99 6spd Arctic Silver Metallic.
Its getting an exhaust system, Litronic headlights, Depo Tail Lights, short shifter and REVO Technik performance Software. Car came with a VF Engineering intake.
In Beverly Hills.
At a Gas Station in New Mexico. Drove the car From Napa County to El Paso, Texas.
Thx. Actually too many LEDs for my taste. I didn't have those headlights when deciding on the bumper; but they really make the 15 yo car younger. Gonna leave them on for a while.
Here is a photo with OEM lights.
What I really want is:
Blackout factory headlight housings and all reflectors, remove amber lens, disable fog lights and turn signals in headlights; use sole the fog lights and LED bars in the bumper. The LED bars are 997 GT3 OEM parts which function as DRL/blinkers/parking in one.
But first, gotta get my IMS bearing updated lol
The bumber is also a bit too low for my steep driveway. I'm considering hydraulic lift. $$$$$$$$
Hey all,
Wanted to share some pics of my 2004 996 C4S. I am in the process of upgrading parts to be more like the 997.
After doing some searching on here for headlight options I found a great, cheap alternative. I ordered some "Covers" on Ebay and then had them painted and mounted. Attached are the pics, stay tuned for the tail light LED upgrades and other options.
I am in the LA area so I am attaching the places where I have the work done. So far my experience with Pristine Auto on FairFax was phenomenal. The Owner is a Porsche lover and did my headlights for $100 even once I brought in the parts.

They look like Depo's to me. It comes either in the all blacked out version or the traditional silver version which masks the led's a bit more from the rest of the housing.

I think it look best with the red version or keep it stock. Now you got the center red strip that doesn't flow with anything. IMO. but if you like it then that's all that matters.

So here's an unmolested, perhaps for some, 'boring' 996 for the galleria..I'm not sure if its just me but these first gen water cooled are starting to look 'classic'
The picture that made me feel back in love..
Hello everyone. Im new to this forum. Hoping to get well inform about these 996s cause its my first one. I bought it a month ago and have done lots of mods plus wheels. Rides excellent. Just had my exhaust customized yesterday with magnaflow hi flow cats and x-pipe along with fabspeed mufflers and stock headers. Also fabspeed carbon fiber twin filter air intake. Sounds amazing. Deep tone on low end under 3500 rpm but then it rips like a performance racer when you floor it. Still need my ecu upgraded. Here are some pics.
June 7th, 2016 before pic when I first brought it him
Current status. Planning to do a custom wrap soon.
My local fabricator Doug...The Muffler Man is one of the best. Made this exhaust system from scratch with me even showing him fabspeeds design. And it sounds incredible.
