Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Installed the factory cruise control stalk... going to Porsche to have it programmed next week. Everything I've read said, assuming no issues, it should be about a 1/2 hour job. Is that correct? I fully understand each hour started is a full hour charge. The first Porsche shop I spoke with quoted me minimum 2 hours shop time; not going there regardless because of availability, but is that reasonable? I understand if they get in there and start getting fault codes that the final cost will change, but seems like a haevy minimum charge for what should be a fairly straightforward programming. Appreciate any thoughts.

If it takes them half an hour, they stopped to have coffee, 5 min is more like it............

Yeah, I’d expect ~30 minutes or less of actual PIWIS work if everything is already installed correctly. There are multiple 997 retrofit reports putting the coding in the roughly 5–30 minute range. A 2 hour minimum sounds more like the shop’s billing policy than the complexity of the job. If they have to chase a coding/DME issue, different story, but for a straightforward activation I’d personally call around and ask specifically for PIWIS cruise control activation only. Your install looks pretty clean, too.
