Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've been using the Durametric for about 8 years and never noticed the checklist for subsystems on the DME page.

All that's needed is the "learn" process using a PIWIS tester.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It seems that in Doug's case he temporarily swapped in a module from a friend's car and it worked.

2000 C2 Cab
My top stopped working today. The front unlatches, the windows come down, and the clamshell raises, but the roof doesn't go up. I'm guessing it's the same issue that Doug had and requires a new control module. One seller says "This particular item needs to be reprogrammed to your car in order to work correctly:" I'm unclear about this. It seems that in Doug's case he temporarily swapped in a module from a friend's car and it worked. Can someone explain what's involved in removing the old one and also if reprogramming is required?
That's not correct! All that's needed is the "learn" process using a PIWIS tester. Also, it's rare for the module to fail, it mainly occurs when a tech damages it while troubleshooting.
No one has been in there so I'm not sure how to proceed. The symptoms are exactly as Doug described in his post. I didn't see anything in the Durametric related to a cab top. I thought there was.
The Durametric site says it works on Cabriolet functions. I can't find any reference to cabriolet in the menu. Can someone tell me where it is? I want to see if there are any codes.
the convert6ible top is one of the subsystems listed .I had just updated their software and it required filling out the cars profile when launching.-not sure if thats relevant but they have a top module .The first thing I would check is the pump oil level .
Yes! Exactly this. I have a 2001 C2 Cab and adding fluid to the pump fixed it right up when this happened to me. Don't need much and the fluid was pretty inexpensive.
I had the same issue and it was hydraulic cylinders issue. Had to have both of them rebuilt, then bleed system and works fine now. Porsche wants $1500 each + for new cylinders, had both of mine rebuilt with new seals and o rings for $400 with a 10 year warranty.
If fluid is low in pump they are probably leaking anyway and time to refurbish. It's not hard to remove and replace them, plenty of instructions on the forum and the eBay rebuilder dude. Be prepared to lose some blood due to clearance and sharp metal edges! It's a badge of honor.
Good luck!
Definitely check fluid level first. I had the same issue this winter. The reservoir would be empty in the morning after several refills, but no fluid on the ground in front of the tires where you would expect it. Finally found all the fluid in the pump area where a mouse had chewed through a hydraulic line. The line is integral to the cylinder, so new line, new cylinder.
The top started working again. No rhyme or reason. I will check the reservoir. How do you check the level, is there a dipstick? I never entered the profile information into the Durametric software so I guess that's why I'm not seeing everything. I've been using the Durametric for about 8 years and never noticed the checklist for subsystems on the DME page. Doh! Now I see the Cab top and other things.
Its a little bit of a pain. Get the top into the service position, remove the little plastic screws and remove the decking. Thats pretty easy. Then you need a flashlight to shine through the plastic reservoir to see the fluid in the reservoir. Of course, if its full or empty you may not see any level. Best done in a garage or shaded place so the light can do its work.
it only took me 7 times to get the hang of it this winter.
If its working, it wont be the fluid
I've 3D printed plastic screw replacements as I've either lost or broke the originals. They're not perfect but they work. Some of the ones I made break when you remove them so I just print more. I should probably redesign them to make them a bit beefier.
