Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If I didn't have the track hobby nicer street wheels would be on the top of my list... To take it a step further...I even know exactly what look would be on the car if I ever did wheels...and it'd be Work mesh wheels (like Benjamin Chio has) with gold/bronze centers. Andy

absolutely gorgeous same goes for audi's and if you had the work brombachers on that thing it'd be game over for real. the 996 mk1 aero is so hot with 19" mesh wheels like so (in this example 19" bbs lm): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E5LqlUrV0g it's better looking than the mk2 aero - much more fluid, original intent

Quote: So, how are you liking the LWFW? Where did you buy it and how much? Curious since I installed mine a few weeks ago, just hit ~300 miles since the install so time to go have some fun now that it is broke in. Gotta love Texas weather!

POST 37Original post

Quotes source post: 1497479

Quote: i LOVE it! i drove it and rode passenger just so i could feel the difference. it REALLY did change the 0-60 factor! i'm very happy we made the choice go get it. i was a bit hesitant to have it upgraded as i didn't know how much difference it would make, but now, i'd always go with the LWFW. feels like much more HP! if they did a new clutch with the OEM FW, they quoted $2000 to $2200. for the LWFW, it was $3000. they didn't charge me anymore for the parts. i priced it out at several performance parts places and they ran the same. it snowed here in seattle today, so i didn't get to have any fun and try it out much. =(

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 1497834

Quote: i wouldn't recommend doing it personally on the 911. it makes more noise and there is no additional hp out of a lwfw on this car. in fact you lose pick-up from a start a bit. it's all seat of the pants. p.s. that's brandon that jokester!

POST 40Original post

benjamin, well....dang. too late now. it's all installed! lol! oh well. we'll see how it does and when the clutch goes out again (hopefully not in the time we own it!) we'll look at OEM again. by then, we'll be bumping up to the S or maybe the T version anyway. thanks for your advice! we'll take all into consideration when we get the next pcar. <~~newbie pcar owner. only had the 996 and the 986 since late may. sooo much to learn!

POST 41Original post

Quotes source post: 1498900

Quote: Noise (chatter) has not been an issue with my LWFW, very, very slight to the point that it is frankly not even noticeable even with AC on. Spools up more quickly too. Granted it does not increase HP but reducing the rotating mass by 20+ pounds does make a difference.

POST 43Original post

i've notice the noise to be a little chattery, but not bad at all so far. i hear they need a little time to break in a bit? oh well, i think of it as "music to my ears". lol! for anyone that gets into the car and doesn't know anything about LWFW, they may think "what is that sound??". But, to anyone else that knows about mods.....they'll appreciate it.....i hope. i do when i drive it. i've truly noticed a difference. i call it "throw your head back in the seat factor". and now, it has a little more of that, along with a big grin on my face when it happens. i'd say it was worth it. haven't taken it to the track yet. that won't be 'till spring. it's snowing here! aghhh! btw..carrera mike......BEAUTIFUL!!! thanks for the pics!

nice pic ... what front lip is that? is that a stock 02+ front bumper? I looking for one now........ Quote:

POST 49Original post

Quotes source post: 1502685

Quote: Will do. The SC 3.6 is much faster, it is at least another 50-60hp... so @around 475hp+ easily is a big advantage....but the 3.4 is more tunable, for more performance.

POST 50Original post

Quotes source post: 1499007

Quote: i understand the concept and idea, but real life results don't add up. it's not as good as the OEM flywheel setup on the 911. spools up more quickly? we talking about turbo engines here?

POST 51Original post

Quotes source post: 1503554

Quote: No experience with the OEM LWFW though have a hard time seeing the difference being that dramatic. Spooling, <meh> bad word choice, you get the point though. Rotational mass is the enemy was my point. Two cars with equally skilled drivers with the only difference being one with OEM NON LWFW and one with a LWFW. The one with the LWFW will have an advantage in some aspects such as coming out of a corner since the engine will rev up more quickly/freely. Will it make a diff in the lap times, maybe not. But there are some aspects that could give a competitive edge.

POST 52Original post

we've had the lwfw in the 996 for a week now. i've noticed a big difference in coming out of corners, but also for acceleration. i think, personally, it was worth the difference in price. we'll see when we take it to the track and try it out this spring.

POST 53Original post

Quotes source post: 1503272

Quote: tunable as in how ? ........... can we or can you with the 3.4 re-tune the GIAC software or are you talking about upgrades to the motor....

POST 54Original post

Less inertia to overcome with a LWFW. But at only a 20 lbs delta its probably negligible difference unless you are driving hard all the time.

My paint shop, a concours quality work tyoe, took some labor cost off because he said he didnt have to work in prepping it that hard due to the excellent material and finish that it came in. I think your next question is hoew much I paid 800 plus shipping 2 or 3 years ago. Under my signature, there should be an album with my install....Ooops.. I thought I did. I guess I took it out There are some pictures there though that show different angles.

Those are some of the best looking Porches I've ever seen. I've just spent $10k in my head looking through all the pics... I know it was said a few times by others about loving the wide body but you just have to admire the athletic look of the narrow.
