Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

And old school me has always replaced both corners at a time.
Leading evidence: 'Replace corners at a time' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace corners at a time' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So with the 996 being off the road for 6 months waiting for a Hartech rebuild I finally got her back last month… and now she’s off the road again.
I got (what I thought was a puncture) a flat tyre whilst driving and managed to limp to Kwik Fit (don’t judge me) to have new Michelin Pilots put on the rear. The original tyre was still looking ok albeit more than 5 years old. And old school me has always replaced both corners at a time.
A couple of days later the tyre was flat again.
I rang Kwik Fit who told me they struggled with the rim seal and had to put some sealer stuff on which usually costs £35 but he done it for free…
He said there’s a thicker paste you can put on but Kwik Fit don’t supply it. He reckoned it was quite corroded.
Rather than the messy option I took it to local coach works for a refurb. But now they have turned around and said they can’t repair it as it’s leaking in 2 parts behind the split rim and 2 parts on the outer rim. He said they never remove the split rim because they never go back
Any ideas people? I was prepared for the worst (buckled or cracked) but this answer is neither. It’s leaking but they won’t fix it because it’s split rim?!
Has anyone else had this issue? Do I try somewhere else, go with the thick paste option, or look for another alloy? Seems extreme.
Sounds like they just fobbed you off, pump the tyre up to about 40 psi and spray water with a bit of washing up liquid in it around the rim this will show where its leaking, i reckon it needs the tyre taking off again and give the wheel a proper good clean . I would not believe a word until i'd seen whats going on with it.
It's a known problem with these thanks to corrosion at barrel / rim join. Proper fix to find is to find someone who can take apart, recondition and reseal, but as you have found not many are keen to take that on. Or a new wheel.
Edited to add: oops, ignore this, they are 2 piece so barrel and rim are continuous.
Being a split rim has nothing to do with it loosing air, you can unbolt the centre and take it out and it wouldn't affect tyre pressure.
It'll be corroded where the tyre sits against the wheel and allowing air to slowly leak out. find a descent wheel refurb place and they'll be able to sort it out.
As said above soapy water, it’ll be leaking out the rim.
The wheel doesn’t look in great shape it’s been painted. You can gum them up with bead sealer but it doesn’t always work. I’ve seen it where air gets out under the damaged paint/powdercoat.
