Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Howdy! To dive right into the issue my 991 left with stranded in a parking lot. Car acted normal driving to the store and upon restarting to head back the transmission issue came up and I didn't have access to reverse or forward gears. I scanned it and found only one code for the transmission, P1765 Gear skip engagement block, but the car starts and will go into neutral. I have searched high and low and cannot find anyone else that had this problem. When I start the car I can feel an ever so soft engagement then the error appears. The error will clear in accessory mode but appears as soon as you start the engine. I have dropped the valve body and checked solenoid ohms and they check out. Next step would be to remove and solenoids and pressure test them. Just looking for some guidance before I start throwing money at this thing. THANKS!

POST 3Original post

Did you check the readings from the shift rod position senors? I could see an unexpected/erroneous position resulting in a the TCU preventing gear selections and possibly the P1765. May not be, but checking the basics; shift rod position, speed sensor and clutch pressure data is a good place to start.
