Hi folks. I'm posting this here so I don't interfere with someone else's thread. I just bought a 997 .1 c2s cab and after 3 days the top had a really hard time lifting up to close. and now it won't close at all. the motor is still working and it will clamp and unclamp. and I just found this smoking gun evidence of hydraulic fluid leaking out in front of the rear right wheel... so I've done a brief search online and found that some recommend using Cabriolet Hydraulics in Florida to rebuild the cylinders. is this still the recommended way to go? thanks!

it's a common maintenance issue (now that I've looked it up). the hydraulic cylinder seals fail due to age after 20 years. similar to rubber bushings in the suspension. since it only lasted a few days, I suspect the seller topped off the fluid without repairing the problem. pretty typical of BaT sellers today because the site doesn't allow feedback or any comments about fraud. a Z4 I bought 3 months ago on bat is still in the shop... I guess I should just quit using the site. but this is fixable. I mean, learning to fix a maintenance issue with a car is a good experience. as long as it's not a disaster like the Z4 ...
