Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Once I checked with Porsche they were able to give me the correct codes.
Leading evidence: 'Check with porsche they were able' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check with porsche they were able' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A friend of mine has a laptop with genuine porsche software but the code it came up with didn't work.
Hey guys thanks for letting me join this site!
I need a little help in finding the radio code for my 2001 Porsche 996 911.
I popped the radio out in the hope it would be written on there but unfortunately not.
I have attached a photo of the data plate on the side of the head unit.
Thanks in advance
If the radio is original to your car, then your local Porsche parts dealer can give you the code from the VIN. If you have a factory PCM unit it will reqiire 2 codes to unlock it. Porsche should be able to give you both of those codes from the vehicle VIN.
Thanks for the reply Baron, my local dealership is around 20 mile away and my problem is I work 6 days a week so it makes it difficult. A friend of mine has a laptop with genuine porsche software but the code it came up with didn't work. It's definitely the original head unit.
I had a similar issue with my early PCM unit, the code stored in the computer did not match. Once I checked with Porsche they were able to give me the correct codes. Maybe see if they will accept an e-mail request? You may need to provide proof of reg/ownership and ID to match. Hopefully they are willing to work with you.
I can prove proof of ownership and vin numbers no problem. I just thought I'd pop it on here first hoping for a quick fix! Thanks for your advice I'll go down the Dealership route
