Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone recommend a good ‘Jump Starter Power Pack’ for 996 C2 please? Lots on the market, with mixed reviews. Any comments/experience much appreciated…

POST 2Original post

I would recommend the snap-on jump pack. You get 3 or 4 jump starts out of one charge in my experience. I found it as my local dealership used them.

POST 3Original post

I carry a NOCO GB45 in each car having waited 5 hours for Porsche Assist one day. It started a V12 Aston stuck in the Goodwood pit lane after a Goodwood big booster failed to crank the car and I find when I check charge level every 90 days it has lost less than 5% charge

POST 5Original post

I'd be more concerned with the cause (why is the battery dying) than the cure (jump starting)

POST 6Original post

I carry a small Sealy Lithium Ion Starter pack Sealey RS800 RoadStart® 800A 12V Lithium-ion Jump Starter Power Pack It can start cars up to 6 litres, gives back up power for charging other devices and acts as torch. They are small, easily fit in your glove box, if your battery is dead you can use it to put power via your fusebox to open the front bonnet and once under the bonnet you can start the car. An impressive bit of kit! (do not leave it your boot or front bonnet - dont ask me why......) I first saw this kit used on a dead 3.8s 997 at Le Mans, the guy pulled it out clipped it on to the dead battery and away it went - that was enough to convince me ! They cost less than £80
