I have bought this Macan steering wheel for my 996 turbo and the hub spline adapter to make it fit my car. Does anyone know how to wire the airbag to my original wiring as I think the connectors are different and also how to wire the paddles? As for the other switches on the Macan wheel if any can be utilised that would be a bonus!

however for wiring and the airbag, it is at your own risk,
you need to find an electrical specialist for the wiring , too much going on with these modern wheel to back date it a car from 25 years ago
Had the wheel recovered in Alcantara looks much better imo. Just need to sort the wiring out still.
As well has the hub adaptor I bought this resistor that keeps the airbag light off if I can't wire the new one into the existing loom.
I’m interested to see if you manage to resolve the airbag issue. I’m interested in fitting one of these steering wheels to my 996, but would only do it if the airbag would continue to work.
What do the 996 + Macan airbag connectors look like? How many pins etc
Honest opinion: I would definitely not do this. The non-functional buttons would be enough to keep me away from it let alone having a potentially non-functional airbag. Nonetheless, good luck with the project!
I get where you are coming from but at the end of the day things like the stereo controls are buttons with wires that someone should be able to modify to my Sony that has a wired remote controller. As for drive mode button I am thinking of converting that into a start/stop button. Even the airbag should be able to get working, it's just about finding the right guru, hopefully by posting on forums!
Wow! I'll be honest, that's not for me - but I love seeing people making cars their own and not feeling bound to keeping it OEM. Especially 996's which for too long have been neglected
Well done for not listening to all the naysayers and trying something new!
Many people in the UK treat these cars like they're black box full of unsolveable mystery, or some sort of priceless historic artifact, but ultimately they're just a car with the same mechanical and electronic parts as any other.
Did you manage to get the flappy paddles to work with the tiptronic gear box?
There is a post on the ‘Porsche 996’ Facebook group from someone to have claimed to wire up the single stage airbag. They also had to 3D print a part to make the fitment work.
