Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

New to me, 2001 996 C4 Cabriolet. Used to do a lot of tinkering with my cars but I'm getting old (saw the first moon landing). Can I replace the shocks on my 911 ? Couldn't find a DIY on the subject, but maybe there is one? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Yes, there are several YT videos that go deep in-depth on how to do the job. It's not any different from replacing the shocks on any other car.

POST 3Original post

Dannyboy, the first time I removed the struts on my Cayman, I didn't have the proper tool to separate the balljoint from the hub, instead, I decided to take the longer way and removed the bolt that attaches the coffin arm to the subframe, this will give you enough space to remove the strut from the wheel well, I would suggest first to remove the bottom end before you remove the three nuts from the top of the inner fender. Like someone already mentioned is the same procedure as if you were replacing struts onanother car, is not a difficult job, just take your time
