Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I'm hoping someone with access to the factory wiring diagrams or experience with the PTM system on a 2017 991.2 Carrera 4 can help. The AWD/PTM control unit is located in the frunk on the passenger side. I've attached a photo of the unit. I know that the larger connector on the right side of the module goes directly to the front AWD coupling/actuator assembly. However, the smaller connector on the left side appears to route toward the rear of the car. It contains five wires: Red Brown Orange Orange Black Does anyone know where these five wires terminate? Do they run directly to the transmission/PDK area, a CAN junction, rear drivetrain component, or somewhere else? I'm trying to identify the destination of this harness and would appreciate any information, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, or photos from anyone familiar with the PTM wiring on a 991.2 Carrera 4. Thank you in advance for any help!

Hey @991.2 Lover , that's some serious detective work you're doing on the PTM wiring for your 991.2 Carrera 4. Out of curiosity, what's the larger project you're tackling that has you tracing those five wires from the smaller connector? Sharing a bit more context might help someone with the right diagrams point you in the right direction.

You might want to look at AllDataDIY.com - they might have wiring diagrams for your car, and they have some short-term access rates you could take advantage of. If they did what they did with the 987 diagrams - redid them with their tool that can track circuits from one end to the other - it's a marvelously useful tool. If they don't have it - tell them you want it. Can't hurt and they might do it if they see a DIY market for it.
