I liked lighted switches so i would know when they were "on" plus they make smoked ones that are not bright (for night use the lighted one can be very distrating)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have been trying to figure out a way to mount the switches for my hacked fan. I wanted to make a simple install (and removal - should I choose to sell the car) and not have to drill any holes to mount the switches. This is what I have come up with so far. It's a piece of aluminium sheet that fits between the owner's manual holder and centre tunnel. It slides in from the front of the car (there is a U-shaped bend that puts a large surface in contact with the inner dash surface and I used two sided tape to attach it on the inner surface. That be said, I am not 100% in love with it, but would appreciate other ideas to achieve a similar result.

POST 2Original post

"Fan-hack switch mount". Great name for a band! What exactly does it do? The switches.

POST 3Original post

I used micro toggle switches... Im happy with it.

POST 5Original post

Mine is on the batwing because I don't have heated seats.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

+1 - Can you tell me what kind of microswitches that you used? I was concerned about current draw and mine are overkill for the application (50 AMP IIRC).

POST 7Original post

Thanks! 50 amps? holy!.... check your PM. I used this... http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062509

POST 8Original post

Other than the depth, I'm pretty happy with how mine came out.

Unfortunately, they do not. Not sure how to wire them (3 prong) to utilize the red light in the switch. I tried a few combinations but realized we're just grounding that wire from the relay to create the closed circuit, so don't think it's possible.

POST 13Original post

3rd wire just goes to ground, then the light will work.... IIRC.... I used these in the 4x4 world and my old truck for foglights.. I liked lighted switches so i would know when they were "on" plus they make smoked ones that are not bright (for night use the lighted one can be very distrating)
