Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just finished cleaning my injectors and reinstalled them with new O-rings. I would like to know based on the picture below if they appear properly seated. I noticed part of the rubber O-ring can still be seen. Normal?

POST 2Original post

Looks ok. Yes some of the o ring can be seen when properly installed. As a general rule, if you can bolt and torque the rail, they are properly installed.

Yup I was able to bolt and torque the rail 😅 I did some wiggling action and pushed down on rail as best I can. The o rings were lightly lubed with motor oil.

That's probably fine but there are specific products recommended for that. I use both of these.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

of course lol 😅

POST 7Original post

I've seen lithium grease recommended. Probably for heat tolerance. Does that work?

POST 8Original post

Well color me an old timer! I did that today!!!

I would defer to PT3/Skip but I think the only point of using anything is to just make it easier to get the O-rings to seat. I don't think it has anything to do with 'sealing' anything.

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 19523771

If o-rings need increased heat tolerance then they're made of the wrong material for the application.. Personally, I think any grease is too thick to ease the installation of o-rings and you easily have too much on them. Vaseline is different in that it almost melts when smearing it all around an o-ring (did I just write that 🤔 )
