Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace oil and put' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace oil and put' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After a few months of looking I pulled the trigger on a 2000 996 Cab today.
I had Rudtners Racing do the PPI and was very pleased with their whole operation. I don't think they could have been more thorough going through the car and explaining everything in detail.
I left the car with them to do the IMS LNE upgrade and a couple of other more minor repairs. This will be the longest 2 days of the year, waiting to pick it up.
Thanks to all of you for the information you've contributed to this forum, it made me confident with my decision to move forward.
I'll have to get some better pics up once I get the car home.
I'm afraid there is more of them. Some not registered. The GN is off the road now and my Z-28 is off. I have the Porsche's and the Mustang GT on Hagertys Inc.
I bought a used 3.0 for my '76 from Rudtners in '02, very pleased. What made you finally pull the trigger? I've been lurking since the beginning of the year for a 996
The car just felt right, local sale, very clean, great paint, low milege, no stories, everything added up, dealer serviced, i liked the idea of a private sale and the previous owner was great to deal with; the price was fair and Rudtners PPI sealed it. I had made offers on 2 other cabs last month but was unable to work out what I considered a fair deal. I'm very glad they fell through, I like this car allot more.
Rudtner's is finishing up the IMS/RMS today. According to them, the IMSB was just starting to show a little wear. I guess it would have likely been fine but I know I would be hearing phantom noises and making myself crazy. They already had some of the engine apart during the PPI (exhaust off, etc..) for the leakdown, so I told them to just do it...write it off as insurance. They changed the plugs, coils, air & oil filters, added the mag plug, a couple of other minor things I can't remember right now.
I may pass out when I see the invoice but I'm happy to have these items behind me and I'm certain I have the right Indy doing the work!
I paid $125. last month for a PPI at my local Porsche dealer for an 04 Cayenne Turbo, much less involved than what you had. Ultimately did not buy, seller refused my counter, oh well, girl friend will have to wait. Paid $400 for a PPI for a '89 C4 last year. Curious what you paid for the PPI at Rudtners.
I also would prefer to buy from a Private Sale, Dealers seem to not know the history. They change the oil and put on tires and tell you it is good to go. That's OK if you're interested in a Camry.
Your on the money with that comment, They usually pick up the vehicles from an auction then tell you how good the car is like they owned it for 5 years.
The PPI invoice shows 357 plus tax.
I called a local P dealer and two indys before deciding on Rudtners. I ruled the dealer out after talking to a service manager and getting the feeling they would just do a quick once over.
I then called an indy closer to me than Rudnter's and they sounded like they would have done a good job; they quoted me a fixed price for PPI then extra for DME and extra for leakdown, all of this information passed along via their receptionist/admin (I think it was around $300-400)
When I called Rundtner's for the first time, the owner Bill picked up the phone and I asked him how much they charge for a PPI. He explained that it can vary allot depending on how far they go. He said they may see the car and quickly uncover a few things and I pass on the car, pay him 102 for the hour and we're done or they may continue going through the different systems and telling me what they're seeing and if I want them to continue. They do the DME and then the leakdown test as the last two things (they both add some cost especially the leakdown). So the price will vary based on the amount of time they spend. To me that's fair for both of us. A five minute discussion with Bill convinced me they were the right indy for my PPI.
During the actual PPI I was in the shop and the tech (Brian) clearly explained everything he was doing, why he was doing it and what his findings and opinions were and making recommendations.
The seller was with me at the shop also and we drove back together, he said next time he buys a Porsche he will definitely be using them.
