Are you preferring that when you register the car in the UK it should be "1st registered keeper" ??.......Or if you register it with german plates first it will then be reg'd in UK as a "used" vehicle.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i'm picking up a new "C16" C4S Coupe next week . Ordered it myself from a Swedish porshe dealer & am saving £5,500 O.T.R-UK. To say I'm like a dog with two d..ks is to seriously understate it. Never owned a porsche B4 and am more used to BMW "corporate correctness"- so am about to upset a few.

Saved £5,500 eh! Let's hope Sarbs doesn't read this! A stunning car, you'll love it I'm sure. Welcome to the forum btw
- take some pics when it arrives, mail them over to me and I'll upload them (unless you have access to some webspace of course)
Cheers, Phil.

Jay Jay what options you got coming on the car? You gonna keep it on import plates until March? £5.5k saved, you should get yourself the porsche mountain bike out of that cash!!!! Saw a Silver 4s on saturday night at a function I had to go to, was talking to the owner after he saw me loitering near his car, He wished he had ordered the sports exhaust and new pcm unit, I smiled an evil smile but managed to with hold the fact that I had!!!

Pleasure to meet you-Sarbs......C4S manual.....Silver & Black leather... PCM(2) + integral GSM phone (no h'set)....Xenon litronic..... THE SPORTS EXHAUST!!......H'rest crests...... cruise......small Alu' pck. .....Alu & lthr H'brake upgrade..... Y29 pack (steel guards+chrome 4-pipe+Alu dials.)....."BOSE" digital... 6 x CD.........The plan is to "low loader" new baby from ferry to home - then register it for "03" 1st march. Quite how I will be able to just wait to drive it - I do not know! I've got a No plate ready to put on it - so that will be affixed a few days B4 end Feb. I will @ mid-night (plus 2 seconds) be "firing up" my new baby and the neighbours will know that I am playing with my new toy! SPORTS EXHAUST - DO YOUR THING!
I hope to post some pics as soon as I've figured out this pesky digi camera!

So I take it that the Sports Exhaust is worthwhile ?
I am just about to order mine and I'm not too sure of the extras.
Jay Jay, where did you order your car from ?
5k sounds like a good deal, I feel like I am getting ripped off ; )

Jesus JJ, were there any option boxes you didnt tick?
My dealer only wanted me to order sports exhaust nothing more, although I forced him to let me order PCM II (hate maps) and the xenons (thier so cool, the 4s I was loaned had them, very impressive) he warned against the bose sound upgrade taking into account the bellowing sports exhaust (there are issues with the sports exhaust that I have found out about via another forum and am having over-riden once the car arrives in the uk wednesday) Have you sorted everything with porsche gb to get the car's warranty upgraded to the standard uk one? With porsche assistance et al?
Well looks like the world is gonna be two artic silver 4s better off in the near future!

Yes waiter, Ill have a Lasagne for the wife, chicken nuggets and chips for the little one and a sports exhaust for myself.Once youve heard that noise you will be thinking about it all the time.An absolute must have item and the first tick to be made on the options sheet. Regards, SIMON.

Regarding the mountain bike - mine's gathering dust in the garage anyway. It's not a Porsche one either! strongly suspect I won't be cycling for a while . BUT- the idea of spending the notional "saving" on anything is something I'll hold back from anyway because the "saving" could disappear should I ever sell the car. In other words - I'm (only slightly) concerned that upon disposal my "imported car" will fall behind it's identical UK supplied counterpart. Right now - my guess is that it's value will be approx £1000 behind the UK one. Anyway - I'm not selling yet so it's all theoretical......but I wonder what your/other's opinions are as to value differences between UK & imports? I know that the "C16" bit is crucial.
Jalf - options I've always thought are highly personal.Personally I've always got an eye for future residual value- hence silver& black. The spts Exhst does -in every write-up I've ever seen- seem to be an absolute must. It suits the nature of a C4S (i.e. essentially sporting). I know there to be a very strong argument for ordering a standard C2 with nothing on it at all.Great Porsche pleasure in it's purest form. Anything after that is personal preference. I'm guilty of ticking loads of boxes but know I'll have a very desirable & highly saleable machine. My choice and I'm sticking with it!! I will let you know more precisely where purchased from once I've actually got the car in my possession. But- I'm intrigued by your comment of feeling "ripped-off". Pls tell more!
Sarbs - I'm also monitoring various forums and am interested in potential sports exhaust "over-riding" tweaks. I may yet be more than satisfied with standard factory issue! I'll keep on watching all the feedback from other peoples experiences. Do please let me know of your own reaction.
Simon H - as the household budget has already been consumed by my various box ticking on the Porsche - I think it would be better if Wife & nippers had beans on toast for a while. They'll just have to dream of Lasagne.
Anyway- am off to Sweden to collect car tomorrow (19/2). Once I've collected the car & verified it's all 100% I'll post views of the whole "shopping abroad" experience.

Just reading all the messages. I am getting my C4S in 10 days (LHD), but I am unsure about the number plate and warranty issues.
1)- So far I have been told to keep German plates for 6 months, and then switch over to British ones.
2)- Warranty. What do I have to do with Porsche GB exactly?
And no, I have not ordered the sports exhaust and it is starting to bug me. What is this problem with the BOSE system which I have?
Thanks!
JAG

Johnag007,
There is no sound system in the world that can compete with the music that those sports exhausts make, isnt that right Sarbs?. Regards, SIMON.

Simon you are 100% right. Just going to my garage to hear the 4s's 1st symphony in d minor!!! Jesus christ I cant believe I've lived happily without a porsche for 30 years, I've cheated myself! Just got my pack from the porsche club gb, everything is coming together like a plan from the a-team!!!! May even be fit for Sunday's FA cup match!

johnag007......
the LHD bit clouds the issue slightly from where i'm sat.
1st of all take the car to your porsche dealer together with your "service booklet" which should have a car identity white sticker in it that matches the one that should be stuck to the underside of your bonnet lid.
this is your car's I.D. .....
once Porsche G.B. know that your vehicle is in the UK - then your 2 yr warrty kicks in.
As for leaving german plates on - I just don't know !!!
Are you preferring that when you register the car in the UK it should be "1st registered keeper" ??.......Or if you register it with german plates first it will then be reg'd in UK as a "used" vehicle. You must choose. Maybe you have a personal plan that suits LHD..?
If , however you intend to run it in UK and one day ultimately sell it in the UK.....then I would register it in the UK as a new car --with tiny mileage on it.
