Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey, guys! Can anyone confirm if the bulb thats out in the photo below is indeed #3 - Osram Original Bulbs R5W 5007-02B 12V 5W (Pair) Thanks in advance for any insight Good resource for 996 tail light bulbs You Tube

POST 2Original post

#3 is the right rear fog light, which is an empty socket on USA cars. When I changed mine to LED bulbs, I installed a bulb in the right rear, thinking I would have twice the rear fog light brightness. I didn't work. Only the left side works.

Thank you. Looks like my best bet is just to pull it to see which one is out.

POST 4Original post

The owner's manual has a diagram showing which socket serves which purpose. If you haven't already done so, remove the light fixture and check the bulbs. Only one 10 mm (across the flats) socket inside the engine compartment, some wiggling and pulling and it's out. Hold on to it so that you don't drag it across the bumper and scratch it. I tape a rag over the bumper.
