Use a bore scope to look into the cylinder thru the sparkplug hole for any cracks in the cylinders.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello , i need some advice, i have 1999 996, few days ago i lost coolant in system, as i later fined out it got into oil, i bring car to Porsche center they think problem is oil cooling radiator, did anybody had such problem? do you know what it can be if not this radiator? can it be oil/air separator? please advice

POST 2Original post

Intermix issues caused by the oil cooler are not that uncommon. If it is the oil cooler, they can pull it and pressure test it to confirm.

POST 3Original post

Its a good place to start.....if its not that it could be major...unfortunately.

POST 4Original post

POST 13Original post

From a 3.6 -- Not sure how easy this would be to see from a boroscope -- but certainly worth the try.

POST 14Original post

see post #6 for a common type of crack in the head. 1 - 3 side most often. These can be repaired. see post #5

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
