This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
This 718 is probably a good buy as you can warranty it up to 125k miles or 15 years so 80k miles is nothing, Will also be a lot quicker than the old 981 2.7 which is a bit gutless.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Seems like a great spec and price. MoT history seems ok (advisories for tyres and brakes)
Any thoughts?

Great spec, but 78k miles. It'll be over 80k at least when you some to sell it.
The amount of muck under the raised wing in photo 3 hints that maybe it's not been pampered as much as you'd expect.

A much better choice, lovely looking car.
This 718 is probably a good buy as you can warranty it up to 125k miles or 15 years so 80k miles is nothing, Will also be a lot quicker than the old 981 2.7 which is a bit gutless. That said the older car will of course be cheaper if this one is a stretch.
My own experience with a 718 S Cayman with similar mileage has not been a good one to put it mildly. I’d be digging very deep into servicing if i did it again. It will definitely need a PDK service if it hasn’t been done. The later cars had a LOT of updates with good reason..

What happened? I've a 2016 718 base bought from new, 10 years and 80k miles later haven't had any issues despite extending the warranty religiously... I think the pre-GPF cars are a stronger buy as sound better but also avoid this:

Blanking plates coming loose on back of engine, massive oil leak. PDK failure resulting in gearbox specialist strip ( £ 4500.00 ), water pump, changeover valve, changeover valve COV, parking brake failure, Heater COV to name a few.

That seems unfortunate indeed. Did you have warranty?
