I also used 15mm fronts and there is lots of clearance, same with the 7mm rears with 295 tires.

All fronts of a 996 are the same from 99-01 then the headlights change 02-05.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Pics from today, after a wash and Souveran application:
I'm looking forward to getting back to my home in the north. After a month of being on the road, I'm sick of this Sony point and shoot and am itching to shoot the car with proper gear.

CT has some seriously nice real estate. I was at a friend's house in Greenwich a month ago, and was marveling at the size of his estate - And just when I was getting used to the ridiculousness, one of their friends pulled in driving a $10M Ferrari 250GT California Spyder. I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing:
Luckily, I had brought my photo gear with me, and the owner was cool enough to let me shoot it.
As far as my pics above go, they were taken at one of my family homes in South Carolina. My mother has lived on Hilton Head Island for the past 18 years, and my father's house in the pics is at one of the golf communities off-island. We stopped here on our way back from Florida, as it breaks the drive up nicely.

Thanks Pas! The wing is the OEM Porsche Cabriolet wing. I wasn't a huge fan of it at first, but it is definitely growing on me.
Sorry for the delayed response, I spent the day in the car, driving from the SC house to a friend's spot in Raleigh NC. An enjoyable, uneventful top-down drive in 90+ degree weather. It's been a hell of a trip down south, and thanks to the Cabriolet my tan is now of George Hamilton proportions.
Since it was so well received, here a few more of the California. I'm a car guy like (I'm sure) the majority of this forum, I was a teenager when I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off in the theater, and being able to experience an example in person was fantastic. Some more pics from that day:

Some updates after I finished the Turbo brake installed and finished with the suspension and wheels... Still need to get the suspension setup.
I like the look of the 19" lobsters with the Mk1 Aero... think it goes well but that's just me. Spaces are H&R 7mm rear and 15mm front:
Cheers
Aaron
purplxd, did your HR spacers come with longer lug nuts too? or were you able to retain the originals. I too have 997 wheels and would like to push them further flush to the fender. Do you have any rubbing issues with the 17mm in front?
great, thanks for the quick response. I'll look into a spacer kit now that i know i'll be safe from rubbing. your cars stance looks perfect! How much did you lower it?

It went down about 1.25" but its not setup perfect yet. Needs a local alignment/corner balance guru to make it all perfect.
I set it close to ROW Sport settings so it could be moved onto a flat deck to be towed to their shop next week... Friday will be the first road test.
Cheers
Aaron

I am new to the 996 chassis cars and did not know that the turbo fits what most call the narrow body cars? Or is that an early turbo front bumper?
My car is a 99 coupe and i do not like the stock bumper. Want to upgrade soon...
All fronts of a 996 are the same from 99-01 then the headlights change 02-05. So all 99-01 bumpers will fit your car.. Aero, Turbo, etc...
You can go to 02+ but you will need to also change the front fenders and headlights.

Put on a PORSCHE stripe to help "decorate in" the RS wing.
I had to go to a local sign shop and get pin striping to add to the top and bottom. Before it was hard to tell what it said and it looked too plain.
If I did it again, I would just order it custom from a sign shop with the pin striping as part of the design, but the end result is good and I think it accomplishes the goal.
Here is my 2002 996 Carrera 2. factory sideskirts with chin and rear lips, MA Shaw Aero rear spoiler, BBS Sport Classic II's with the centers powder coated black. Factory Aluminum interior with Aluminum guages, Debadged.
Also hard to see in the first picture is the flat black Carrera side script, the light has to be just right to see it, I put another pic on, kinda large.. sorry

There is a local indie Porsche shop in my town who builds club racing cars and sells used 911's... they did it for me. I am SURE there are torque specs though.
There are a couple of things there I would like for my car... the exhaust tips are sexy and I really like the console delete.. both are in my near future, what kind of tips are those?

ur interior looks great....and how comfortable are those gt3 seats? i mean can u get in and out easily? and do u feel like ur stuck in them ? im thinking of getting some soon .

Seats are O.K. to get in...
real tricky to get out
...definitely
not
for a daily driver. Completely off limits to (bigger) people. Bottom cushions are less comfortable than stock...you can sit still for ~1 hr max before you need to get out and stretch. Benefit are they hold you tight and communicate the road feel much better plus they are 1/2 the weight of stock (saved ~60lbs total)...oh and they look badass which is most important

Badass car, got a question? what rear end is that specifiacally where did the bumper stops blocks things go, them things irritate me from time to time and will look at the removal of them off my 911 when that day comes.
Quote:
That's a Precision Porsche Turbo replica bumper for 996 C2. It comes without the bumper stops which is a cleaner look. If you have bumper stops you can paint them to match the body color.
Thanks for the prop's!
Quote:
Thanks for the info, they will be removed or bumper replaced now that I know this, does it illuminate your plate as required? never noticed but assume the euro spec cars do not have the bumper stops as the plate would not fit
