Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi, I'm considering replacing the outdated PCM unit on my manual 2010 997.2 with an Alpine unit. Will I still have functionality of the sport chrono and steering wheel buttons? Thank you

POST 2Original post

I don't have a 911 /997 - but in general, no and maybe. The Sport-Chrono is a function built into the current PCM . Aftermarket doesn't support that because it isn't made just for a Porsche - so that's the no. Maybe the steering wheel buttons can be made to work. Various head units do offer external control, but it typically requires an interface between the car's computer bus and an input bus on the head-unit. Your best bet for finding this functionality is perhaps talking to Crutchfield - who does some extensive testing and installs on aftermarket audio. So that's a maybe. Let us know how it works out for you, and welcome to the forums! You might do an intro post in New Member Introductions

POST 3Original post

Any good aftermarket upgrades out there I have a 2013 991.1 - would love to have CarPlay . Thanks.
