I'm looking at changing my Cooper S for an Audi A8 at the moment, this will be pretty good at towing the trailer....I am yet to tell my wive that I want to keep a trailer outside the house, but I will come to that when I get to it.

I looked at getting a turbo also, I did a test drive on North Weald airfield in one (lots of fun) but even though it was faster than the C4S I had, it just didn;t get the emotions going like a NA engine, it was to quiet.

Just come back from picking my new C2 cab up in Germany, saw loads of C4S cabs and more Turbo ones - you'll love it!
My spec is as follows for the best residual (colour optional, but had a silver Boxster S before so decided to have a slight change)
Seal Grey + black roof, black leather, sports seats, PCM2, PSM, phone, Bose, Litronics, Carrera wheels, cruise, CD changer, aluminium dials. I would have had more, but where do you draw the line?
Good luck!

Mogsy.....you recommend the german factory collection then? Must be like being a kid in a world's best toy store.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 4500
Apart from a few minor niggles the car is great
The factory visit was great fun and I will post a report shortly. There is no doubt that being surrounded by hundreds of new 996's, Cayenneeenneeenn (whatever!) and Boxsters brings a smile to your face!

Jay Jay,
How the hell did you manage an October delivery? Do you own an OPC or something?
I've been waiting 20 months now for my C4S (a bit extreme, I know, but it's due in three weeks), and enquired about changing it to a cab order a few months back. Was told that I was looking at mid-late 04 !!!
Cheers,
Gary D.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5076
Hello Gary D......
Put my £1,000 deposit down with a South West OPC back in early Feb '03 - specifically for a C4S CAB and said i'd be happy to take delivery in spring '04. The order was taken on that basis. Then was asked mid-May to increase the deposit to a total of £3,000 to fall in line with Porsche GB's "order-taking policy".....and then thought why not see if i can get their first car ? Good fortune really, then ....they said i could have their first car with a guaranteed Sept build date. Now the car is spec'd i needed to "top-up" the deposit to 10 per cent of total final car value £77,000). Figured it could be a cheap way to run a gorgeous car .....my gamble being to do upto 10,000 miles and sell April/May '04 - hopefully for "list".
It's possible, of course, i may yet "crash & burn"......but i don't think i'll come out of it badly. What do you reckon ???
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5082
Easy with the essex shout Mogsyman, If I drove the car to be seen blah blah blah I'd agree with you but as I cancelled a 360 spider after 13 months waiting as I thought it was a little too much in your face for me after seeing a few on roads, I'd not want that label ever! I like to think of myself as someone who loves driving and if you ask anyone on here who has the sports exhaust they will concur that it adds significantly to the driving experience! And for those days when your are out in town and dont want to gurgle and growl past the world there is a switch to return to standard un-enhanced mode!
And yes I didnt sleep well and yes i'm ratty!
Ps Jay Jay your car will be perfect. If I had my chance again i'd only spec sports exhaust, xenons and alu gear leaver, pcm 2 is fantastic but I only use j-lo on the cat and fiddle pass etc so I know the routes, never use radio so its really not needed.
Did you not think about the gt3 jay jay?
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5084
and Gary........
tell us about your C4S's flavour/colour sceme/options,etc
Don't know what you've been driving until now - but can guarantee you should start getting your "smile muscles" ready 'cos you're gonna need 'em big time when you start driving/owning a C4S. Most other cars don't require such prolonged & extensive use of some of your - possibly until now - dormant smiling gear.

GT3....a little too hardcore for me. That's for driving i mean, - the C4S was perfectly "sporty" enough for me. But...as a residual value bet....UNDOUBTED !!

I am getting a c4s cab and have been asked to spec. Why is the sports exhaust so good to have? Also what do you think of Black with lipstick red leather? Or cobalt blue with metropole blue leather and painted seat backs. Too in your face.
Or just a good job its for a girl?
C4 cab
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5093
Take a look at the pictures of my C2 Cab (My new toy on pics) - Seal Grey is a great colour. I was going to go dark black with Boxster red + carbon bits but didn't have the balls! dark blue, cream interior also looks nice - if you have the nerve.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5094
I really like seal grey but i think its just too masculine for me. If i had buckets of money i'd have a pink one and be done withit!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5098
Special order colour. They can produce most colours, costs an extra £2k i think and puts an extra 3-6 weeks on build time.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5103
What are the major differences of the pcm2 compared to my pcm1? Does anyone think that its better to forget Bose and get a retro fitted from Alpine or other...?

how the did you find out about the C4S cab so early and how did you know it was gonna look right.
same applies to the others that have ordered...
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5127
Am a sad "autocar" subscriber and have to say the quality of their info & spyshots & rumours is pretty good. A tiny article (perhaps sometime Jan'03) suggested a C4S & a TT CAB may be forthcoming and i dropped into OPC who neither confirmed or denied - but took a grand off me in any event with the promise of it's return should the notion become fact. ( i reckon they knew it was coming ).
........and it was always going to "look right" 'cos it's a C4S which is undeniably a pretty droolworthy motor. Giving it the CAB treatment just sounded good to me.......after all, a carrera cab of any sort looks"right" and so the widebody had to be just more so !!!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5179
What does anyone think about sport seats. I really wanted painted backs but am a little wary that you have to have sports seats.
Virtually decided on spec will include sports exhaust heard one the other day and it is hard house muuuusic.!!!!!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5198
Olivia.....sports exhaust.......you'll be very happy without a doubt.
Painted backs ?? entirely personal decision. Trade-off between losing the electric seats and being hugged nicely by the wrap-around sports bolsters. If you're having a coupe - then have the standard seats with memory & electric....if you're having a CAB then go for the painted backs. I reckon with the roof down they'll look the double dog's. Any way....that's what i plumped for.
That's my slant on things - but you're not going to "go wrong" either way.

Thought I'd reply to this one...After 5 new Porsches in 4 years, I know a lot about options.
Last week I traded my 996 C4S Artic Silver, for the first customer GT3 in the country, and as a side point, the Latest GT3 is fantastic.
I am goint to keep the GT3 for this years trackday season, and I also have the first C4S Cab at an OPC, which like you is been built in Sept for Oct delivery.
This is the spec I went for:-
Midnight Blue
Blue Hood
Blue Leather Interior, Silver Stitching
Sport Seats
Sports Exhaust (This is a must have, I had one on the C4S Coupe and it is excellent)
Bi-Xenon Headlights
Bose
Alu Handbrake / Gearleaver
Small Alu look pack
Exterior colour rear sport seats
Red Seat Belts
Alu Rear Centre Console
Painted front splitter, makes the front look a alot better. If you want pictures of an Artic Silver C4S with this done, I have tehm from my last car.
And a few other things I can't remember.
Not sure I'll be able to let the GT3 go but will see how I feel once the novelty has warn off. It anyone wants to know more about the GT3 Let me know....
Sean
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5231
The Gt3 Is awesome.....
The handling is spot on, the acceleration is phenominal, and I have only been to 5500RPM so far, as it only had 36 miles on it when I picked it up next week.
The C4S was the dogs nut. But if you want to trade a little comfort, for a lot more power and handling, then the GT3 is a must....Not sure I'll like it to much in the snow though...
I have Basalt Black, Air Con, CD, Full Carbon, GT3 Seats, Red Belts...plus a few others...
RED SEAT BELTS ARE COOL, had them on my last 4 porsches......

Sean,
Gorgeous car. Love the wheels.
Too fast for a girl though!
Interested in your painted front splitter. Could you show a pic.
Also i have my spec for my C4S cabriolet done as follows;
Cobalt blue
metropole blue leather with cobalt stitching
cobalt painted seat backs
cobalt painted centre console
sports exhaust
small alu pack (not sure about this)
stainless exhaust pipes
pcm
bose
cd
Has anyone had the engine upgrade you know?
996 C4 Cab boring black (except on a GT3)

Great spec. Wont be cheap though(close to £80k i should imagine)
. Alu pack is nice, breaks up the interior a bit.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5261
And glad to see you went with the sports exhaust. Heard a standard carrera with one today, sounded so much better than ours!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5262
Sean thats the car my friend truely awesome! How does it sound compared to the sports exhaust on the 4s. I too could have had a 4s cab in october, got 5k at my dealer for the 997 and he wanted to know a while back if I wanted to switch j-lo over for the cab. The GT3 is the only car that I'd go for instead of the 4s and have been toying around with the idea, but I finally decided that the added safety the 4wd and psm blah blah give me I have probably got the best car money can buy for my meagre driving ability!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5264
I'll post pictures of the painted front splitter tomorrow...
What is the 911uk.com driving day. And when is it???

In summary though, it is a day at an airfield nera Oxford organised by EasyTrack and will be more along the lines of "drivers skills" than an out-and-out track day. Should be good fun though and there are about 20 of us going - although I am still trying to source a car for the day!!!

Do you think girls are allowed on the track day?
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5292
Noony,
Thanks for the alu advice. Just concerned it might look a bit too much. I like the sound of coloured seat belts have asked if they can do cobalt ones. Still waiting for a reply.
Olivia
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5293
They cant do cobalt, but they can do maritime blue(best 964RS colour  ) belts, very similar to cobalt. We'd all like to see your cab, but don you want to risk not breaking in your car properly?

Girls are definetly allowed on track days...The more the merrier..In fact I did a little research and another 911 owner and I are looking to start a track day company which would provide female only days...Drop me a line if your interested.

Come into this thread late but had to say that GT3 of yours is super sweet. All the recent pictures have been of yellow cars so its nice to see one in a dark hue!
Nice one!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5305
oh yeh, sorry didnt see that. ill let myself off as im suffering from chronic hangover sydrome.
dont understand why you have to pay for new splitter. cant they just spray the old one?
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5306
Sean,
It really does make a difference. It will be on my list now. Thanks for taking the time to download the pictures.
The idea of all female track days sounds good. I would be interested. Although i must confess to enjoying a little female/ male competition. Also its interesting to watch better drivers and to be fair they are usually men. No offence meant to any other females out there. Just being realistic.
Where were you thinking of holding the track days if you hold them?
I think it could be a really good concept if it was marketed properly.
If i come to this track day coming up i would really need to hire a car as i don't want to risk mine particularly as i am selling it.
I don't get the c4s until November/ december. My build date is October and my cobalt blue is holding up proceedings by a about 10 weeks.
You were right about the cobalt stitching being expensive.

I think you should sell everything you own and go for a 996 C4 Cab. Forget the 993. My car is lovely and its advertised on this really great site you may have heard of! I may even do you a particularly good deal if i get a free track day!!

Like your signature....I once ordered a Polar Silver Boxster S and it actually came through early, alot depends on how busy the exclusive paints deptartment is....
I ordered Silver Stictching for my C4S Cab on the Metropole Seats not sure how much that is going to be yet though.....Have you been given an idea of cost...
As for female only track days, I did some research and most of the girlfriends / wifes of the guys I do track days with, all said they will not go out on track when men are out there....Good on you for getting out there....
As for not taking your car out as it's for sale. Poor Excuse, My C4S coupe I did 50 laps of Donnington in it...Then scrubbed the tyres driving down the M1 on the way back to London. Took straight to the dealer to be sold sale or return....On track days you just go as quick as you feel comfortable with.
It's a shame I can't make the Handling day, as I'm away in the alps....Would be cool to meet you guys of 911UK....The other forumns I use are all in the US....

When do you get your Cab? The estimation for the stitching was £500 (seats and doors) I am still waiting for confirmation. I think this was a guess by the sales man.

Marbella, what a hard life....I'll be in the mountains cycling, and exhausted, maybe I should buy a Porsche bike, it's bound to go faster...
I checked my order and there is no price for the stitching. My car has a September Build date. So in October, I will have to decide on 4S Cab or GT3, maybe I could pull of both, but 2 911's seems excesive...I'm trying to get the dealer to give me a GT3 RS now but not sure he's going to suceed on this one.
Which dealer do you use???
There is a road test of the C4S cab in this weeks Autocar, they give it a good write up.

Sean,
Saffron cars. Maidenhead. My C4S Cab is being imported, I gave up on AFN Guildford. They were taking forever to get me a C4S whilst i was waiting I changed my mind and decided to stick with my first love CABRIOLETS. If i could afford it i'd go for the turbo cab apparently Kevin at Saffron has got 2 build slots for the first few cars. I think in your position I would stick with the GT3 it is a beautiful car and very unusual sounds like you know alot about driving them too so why change it for a less solid body?
Interesting you had a boxster in polar thats my other favourite colour. What did you think of it?
What got you interested in track days and have you always preferred porsches?
Must get autocar. tomorrow.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 5588
Olivia
Polar silver is an excellent colour, easy to clear and always looks great. I did think of getting my C4S cab in this colour, but I wanted the body are roof colours to match, therefore Midnight and Metropole blue.
As for the GT3 / C4S cab decision, I really want a Cab, and I'm looking at buying a GT3 Supercup car for track use, these are reasonably cheap after a couple of years of racing, and you can buy the used slicks of a race team to use on it.
Porsches, my original passion was Ferrari's, but you soon realise that for everday use, they are hopeless, and the servicing costs are a joke. Therefore I fell for the P cars. Had 5 in 4 years now, 3 boxsters, 2 911. Have a very good relationship with the dealer, and this enables me to get the nice cars.
Tracks days, just natural progression, use to race karts a lot. I'm also a little hesitant in the 911, takes you a few hours to get in the flow of it. I also have a New Cooper S I use at track, and I'm faster at first in that. If you fancy doing a track day let me know, as I know a guy who does know what he's doing and he'll be able to give you a few hints. I was at the Nurburgring with him a few weeks ago, and we were in his 993 RS and we were able to keep up with Sabine in the Taxi, for a lap, even as a passenger the adrenaline was pumping.
Enjoy Marbella.

Sean,
Which dealer do you use. What do you think about importing.
Nurburgring have got 2 tracks haven't they? Were you on the old F1 race circuit thats supposed to be really harsh. I really have to go there some day especially ( please don't tell anyone) as its my hero's home Mr Schumacher senior, am i the only british person who likes him? Fangio is my second. Ferraris are beautiful pieces of art in my opinion it is my ambition to oneday drive an F50 round goodwood.
I guess you will have been to goodwood and seen the hill climb. Fascinating to see so many awesome cars in one place.
A friend of mine recently received his 360 spider and I think it is the prettiest ferrari ever made, I couldn't afford to run it the kind of mileage I do but who knows maybe in forty years I could afford one to keep in my garage and use it to drive as a classic to the revival meeting at goodwood...... Okay so i'm dreaming now!
Anyway I love my porsche every time I drive it I just get that buzz of adrenalin. Its a good job I've got PSM and 4WD! Funny really because i went on a track day at Snetterton and drove a Lotus espirit, Dodge viper, 355 and the 911 and back then i hated the porsche and loved the 7.0 litre ( i think) viper! Oh well just proves I am a girl.

Olivia....
Your forthcoming Cab is an import (did i read here somewhere ?), Yes ?
Nothing wrong at all with imports - so long as it is a pukker "C16" car i.e. made to 100 per cent UK spec & specifically made for UK market.
However...upon disposal, you may have to budget for the car being valued at approx £1,000 to £2,000 less than it's UK supplied identical counterpart. Provided you've dialled in that type of saving at the front end you will be as right as rain.
Out of interest.....which country and currency are you dealing with ? I found that the Swedish Kroner firmed up horribly after i'd done my deal - thereby losing one avenue of cost-effective purchasing. The Euro also is not currently as "good as it was ".
Final recommendation being to make sure you take the new car to local porsche dealer to get it's chassis No and Reg No recognized by porsche GB - thereby protecting warranty.

Yeah I did laps around the North Circuit at the Nurburgring.....It's very hard to learn as there are about 180 corners and it's 22KM long, but really good fun. We are going at the end of September, and then do a couple of days at Spa on the way back, if your Interested.
Yeah I love the 360's, it's the noise that does it, why can't Porsche make a car that sounds like that, the GT3 does sound good though when it's on full song.
I'm actually going to the Festival of Speed this year, I have been invited by Porsche and Walter Rohl is going to be there in the Carrera GT.
The dealer I use is Porsche Centre East London, formally Lancaster Bow.
I also agree that Schui is good, there is no one else out there to match him at the mo. It's a shame that Senna got killed, otherwise I reckon we would of had some great races by now.

Which day are you going to Goodwood? I really hope the rain stays away. Montoya is going to be driving on saturday and felipe Massa will be driving the 2002 ferrari F1 car on saturday and sunday. You must be really pleased to be invited by porsche, especially as they are celebrating 40 years of the porsche 911. AFN have fallen out with me since i cancelled my C4S order. They just took too long and like a typical female i changed my mind! They then said there was an 18 month wait for the C4S cab. However they did take me to a very nice polo match (if you like argentinians in tight trousers its great) not my thing really particularly as I was driving and couldn't drink the champers!
Walter Rohrl is amazing can't wait to see the GT go up the hill.
I was thinking about putting a deposit down for the 997 C4 is there a particularly good salesman you use at the Porsche centre?
As for Nurburghring and Spa let me have the dates sounds fantastic.

I'm going to Goodwood on Sunday. Yeah, I hope the rain stays away also.
The dates for Spa etc are Sept 28/29/30th. Should be a great time....
My salesmen is cool. Give Scott Lummes a call on 02085199999. Tell him I passed on his name and he should be able to help you out.
Cheers Sean

Sean,
Spoke to Scott today really helpful guy. I nagged him about your RS!
Thanks for the recommendation.

I also went to the Polo (Ebel?) and thought exactly the same thing. And I have also fallen out with AFN Guildford and at this time don't think I'll use them again. To be honest, I would probably import and be done with it. If you look at Bramley's website they are mostly imported and fetch the same money as C16 cars.

Spoke to Scott this morning. He was impressed by your knowledge of the product...
He says your after a C4S Cab, I thought you were buying an Import. He also said due to the fact you are a refferal from me, he will get you a car early next year...Cool.

Hi Sean
Kevin my importer is encountering problems. i.e Although he made me spec the car completely and told me he had a definite slot ( 2 turbos and 2 c4s cabs) apparently porsche are now messing him about on the definite build date. This is all making me nervous about dealing with him especially as I am in the process of selling my car on the back of his promises. I am waiting for him to return my call today if that doesn't happen I will be calling Scott back to arrange an appt with him. To be honest I would be happier about handing over lots of money to a registered dealer it was just AFN were so not interested that I gave up thinking any other dealer would be.Thanks again for your help.
How is the RS coming along. Which colour combo would you have? When do you get your C4S Cab?
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6374
Mogsyman,
Were you there with AFN at the Polo? If so did you sit with Tim?
Why have you fallen out with them? Intrigued.

Looks like no luck on the GT3RS. Scott has got 3 cars, and 6 orders before me, If I could get one I would probably go for the blue. I may have to buy an ex GT3 Cup car for track days....
My C4S cab is the first one Scott is getting so should be here in October. I was talking to Scott about a car for you yesterday, and we both know of an order for a C4S cab which may be available...I just have to wait until the person involved returns from Holiday. You should pay a visit over there, their new showroom is pretty cool. Shame about the area though.
Sean
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6376
Thats really bad news on the GT3RS. I am sad for you.
. Never mind maybe something will change. As for the C4S cab let me know sounds great!!!! I will try not to get too excited though. Where exactly is the showroom? When will the person be back off their holiday?
What did you think of Goodwood?
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6380
I was talking to the Marketting Director of Porsche at Goodwood, and says the RS, is a bit of a beast. You can't have aircon, as the flywheel is so light, that if your turned the air con on at idle, the car would stall. So maybe I'm better of getting a Cup car for track days, and using the C4S on road.
The guy I'm thinking about gets of Holiday on Monday, he is actually a collegue of mine, and has just collected his Cayenne, so I'm not sure he wants his C4S cab anymore. I'll ask him Monday....
The Dealership is in Stratford East London. The best thing to do with Scott his keep hassling him. Do you have his email address???
Goodwood was good, the Carrera GT was awesome, but unfortunetly well out of my price bracket...
Scott is taking me to the Frankfurt Motorshow for the official Launch of the Turbo and C4S cabs, you should badger him for a ticket also.
Sean
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6383
Sounds like a better idea. I am amazed about the aircon. Why would the flywheel have to be this light?
I don't have Scotts email I will ring and speak to him again. As for the Frankfurt Motorshow that would be something.
Bit like being in the worlds biggest best sweet shop.
The carrera was beautiful I have a couple of good pictures of it which i will post when i have downloaded them onto the Mac.
I think if i had just enough to buy one i would buy a helicopter instead, Or Maybe i'm just having a bad day! Traffic chaos today on my way in to work.
What does your friend think of the Cayenne?
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6385
Olivia
Helicopters are reasonably cheap. You can get a modest one for a lot less than a Carrera GT. Even if I could afford a Carrera GT, would rather have a Cayenne Turbo, GT3 Cup car and a C4S Cab. Would still have change left.
I guess the flywheel is lighter so there is a lot less transmission loss therefore more rear wheel HP.
If you can get around the way the Cayenne looks (Looks better in the flesh), then it is a great car. I keep thinking about one so I can trailer my car to track days, but they are just a little to expensive at the mo, maybe in a year or so when there are a few used ones around.
Have my first track time in the GT3 this weekend...Aprarently it's going to be wet, so I will find out how the Pirelli Corsa's are int he wet, apartently they are suppose to be pretty good, but I will beleive that when I see it.

I went in a Cayenne the day I went to the Polo. The AFN guys had just got them. Very pleasant inside, can't make my mind up about the exterior. No doubt its a nicely refined car if you could afford the Turbo that would have to be the one to buy. Better value than the 5.0 ltr BMW engined Range Rover, Overfinch any day. A mere £105k.
How about you trailer your GT3 around using a land rover defender? I think they are cool. Used to have one traded it for a Range Rover Vogue.(black too) I love driving it when I want to feel elevated above the traffic. Great for making faces at lorry drivers. The cayenne struck me as a bit low. has your friend been off road yet?
As for the Carrera GT would be nice to drive one for a few weeks. Preferably in Germany!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6388
Defender no way, not enough refinement. I'm looking at changing my Cooper S for an Audi A8 at the moment, this will be pretty good at towing the trailer....I am yet to tell my wive that I want to keep a trailer outside the house, but I will come to that when I get to it.
No he hasn't been off road in it yet. I think he is a little disappointed with it as it is no sports car. He also has a 944 that he drives with in an inch of it's life, he loves my GT3, sometimes I let him have a go.....
Have you had your C4 cab from new???
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6389
Olivia
Where do I begin.......
I know Tim, but sat with Paul B and next to a nice guy (solicitor) who is also having/had problems with AFN.
My car is now 6 weeks old and is yet again going back to Guildford becuase the lining of the hood has ripped and it won't secure properly - other problems include:
PCM2 bust, CD changer bust, Leather coming apart from rear quarter, massive oil consumption, Hood not closing, Hardtop mating with car and refusing to budge, scratches on the rear of the front seats (from delivery) and that's just for starters.
My opinion of AFN is that they have a number of staff who are OK and a number who are muppets (that may be unkind to muppets.......). I try to avoid the idiots (not easy) and I think it's fair to say that I am not happy and am thinking twice about having another Porsche, let alone place a deposit on the C4S Cab. I don't think I have ever owned a car with so many problems and a dealership who think you are doing them a favour.
Having also played golf last week in the Porsche challenge, it surprised me how many people have problems with my local friendly dealer. Bit of a shame really that the guy who won the golf for the AFN Guildford team has also fallen out with Claus because of poor service/attitude etc.
Anyway. less moaning and back to work I suppose....
Last thought, might try an X5 4.6 sport next.......ummmm

Sean,
Sod the A8, you want an RS6 as a towing car ! 400bhp in a family hatchback, you can tow the Cup Car to the track and if it's wet then just take the RS6 out instead. I went round a very soggy Brands Hatch in an RS4 and it was quicker than all of the Caterfield / Westerhams. Seriously quick car !
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6391
Guys
You can buy a 3 year old A8 for 15K, now tell me where I can get an RS6 / 4 for that money and will have one...
Cup cars in Germany are reasonably priced, they would cost the same as a Radical, and lets be honest, you'd rather be in a 911 than one of those things...
Any one going to the Palmersports day at Bedford on the 2nd August???

Hello,
I bought my C4 Cab in November last year it is now 18 months old one of the first facelifts. Really lovely car just done a few miles. Its the best car i have ever owned. My husband had a n M5 which was pretty great but nothing compares to my B Baby.
Which is why I have decided to buy a new one, I thought about a turbo (second hand year or two old) but decided i couldn't do without the exhilaration of driving quickly with the roof off.
As for your trailer predicament why don't you buy your wife a nice jet boat (seedoo twin rotax engine) which does 60mph across water as a sweetner? I happen to know someone selling one. She'd do you a really good deal for you I'm sure!!!!
You are obviously a very kind man allowing your mate to drive the GT3. Shame he's not that keen on the cayenne, maybe it will grow on him.
Have a safe day on the track. Hope the pirrelli's are good. Are you taking the camera, be good to capture some scary moments and let us have a look!
Have you had any more thoughts about the all female track days?
Incidentally the goodwood revival meeting in September is the one to go to in my opinion but only if you like classic cars. Its a beautiful day out and takes place around the original formula 1 track. I am going to give Scott a ring today. I really am grateful for your intervention, thanks again.

Mogseyman,
Well what a disaster for you. Sounds like you got a friday afternoon car. If I were you I would get your money back. i had a similar amount of problems with a new car i bought a few years back, I decided after six weeks of pratting about with the dealer that I didn't want a product that was sub standard, so I gave them one more attempt to rectify all the problems. They didn't so I asked them to replace it with a new car. They couldn't immediately do that so I asked for a refund they refused. So I drove to Luton where the MD of General Motors U.K worked and sat in his reception until he agreed to see me. He quickly organised a refund. The moral of this story is don't bother with the muppets talk to the puppeteer.
Best of luck.

If I was to buy a jet boat, it would be for me...My wive isn't into the go fast stuff...The trailer will probably cost me a lot of Shoe's Handbags and holidays, but I'm sure I will get there in the end.
Your husband has an M5 cool. They are really good cars, I followed the Ring Taxi at the Nurburgring, and these are suppose to be standard road cars, and in a straight line they killed the 993RS I was in....
Driving fast with the roof down, sports exhaust growling, there is nothing better. Can't wait for mine to show up. I have another GT3 on order for April for track day season to start again. WHy do I seem to have a cab for winter and a coupe for summer?? Must go down to the south of france to get some open top motoring in January.
Female track company is coming along, we will probably do Female only days, and also want to specialise in the hard core track day comunity, provide storage (we have a large barn near Tundbridge wells) and transportation. So if anyone fancys buying a cup car, we can store it for you.
Saturday should be good, looks like rain though, so if it rains I will have to go to Bedford the weekend after. I will have a camera but still pictures only.
Tell Scott you want a trip to Frankfurt also...
Do you not fancy a turbo cab??
Goodwood Rivival, no don't like old cars.
Sean
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6448
Turbo cab would be the ultimate for me but at nearly 90k I can't afford one. Maybe a few years time. Or atleast before i'm 35. Every 5 years older I get I have to have another 50 bhp!
Shoes, bags and holidays sounds like a fair swap atleast she doesn't like both like me!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6452
HaHa, she does like cars, she keeps going on about a Jag XK8, and even though it is a nice car, it won't go round corners....Plus it's a bit of an old man's car....
As for 50HP / 5 years, Sounds good to me, when you get to 50 you'll have to get a Carrera GT. I hoped by the time I got to 35 I will have given up this interest in Porsches, but as I'm only a few years away, I don't think it's going to happen....
I looked at getting a turbo also, I did a test drive on North Weald airfield in one (lots of fun) but even though it was faster than the C4S I had, it just didn;t get the emotions going like a NA engine, it was to quiet. The GT3 at the red line is awesome, and I can't wait for Saturday to be stuck about 6000RPM continually....
I'm tempted to join Jamie at Bedford the weekend after...But again it comes down to what I can get away with, as I'm in the Alps Mountain Biking again the wekend after.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6453
Funny that I like XK8's. I hate to admit it, I really do It Pains me that I could like something so bloody awful on the road. It just has a great look, a bit of a classic (just afraction too American to be a true classic). It would have to be the XKR in black with 20" split rims and a breathed on engine. Oh and full lipstick red leather with ebony trim. HELLO.
As for you at 6000rpm in the GT3 and mountain biking in the Alps you can go off people you know!!!!!! You should go to Marbella lots of handbag shops.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6455
Sean, you must have a very short attention span-another GT3(what colour is it going to be?), GT3 cup, C4S cab...why don't you keep one then save up for a CGT?
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6456
Noony..
Short attention span maybe....I like to change cars quickly so depreciation is almost zero...Just a couple percent to the dealer for a sale or return basis....
If I keep the C4S cab, I will buy a GT3 cup also...So it is a choice between Standard GT3 or a C4S Cab with a GT3 cup as a brother. I will wait and see what I think of the C4S cab. I'm going to Frankfurt to see the launch, and my car is due in October.
As for colour of the GT3 next year not sure, but not black, it is a pain to keep clean....
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6457
Sean,
Black is a big pain but looks the best. I spoke to Scott have arranged a meeting. Didn't mention Frankfurt thought it was too cheeky. When is it? Maybe I could get some tickets anyway? Would love to see the launch.
What do you think of the Gemballa. Got to wait till i'm very old for that 641bhp! would you think this is purely track material? I can't imagine what 620lb ft of torque must feel like.

Having gone back to AFN and had the hood repaired and bearing in mind that all of the faults have been fixed (apart form the interior which is a special order from Germany), I have ***** all chance of a refund/replacement car. The car is not perfect, but hopefully now all will be well. As far as dealing with the organ grinder, I do as far as I can but as you know that's not always easy.
All of you may wish to know some items of interest:
PCM2 has TMC in Germany, but it is not added to the software on UK spec cars. The manual states "if your country has TMC then PCM2 will guide you around traffic jams" - not in this country it won't and Porsche can't give me any help there.
AFN have now admitted that PCM2 has a fault in the optical something or other and the reason why my system sometimes works, sometimes doesn't is because they've got a fault they cannot fixand I have to live with it.
PCM2's for the Cayenne are now so unreliable that replacements are on back order and if you have one in yours and it goes wrong (as it will do), sorry you'll have to sing to yourself until Porsche can get hold of one.
Other than that, the weekends great, got 3500 miles on the clock in 7 weeks so can't be bad. Oh, and I've just removed an inch of skin off one finger in the garage on a circular saw - so be warned!
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6534
Mogsyman,
You are putting me off ordering a pcm2. Have they said they will replace it when the fault is fixed?
I don't have a circular saw but i'm sure if i did i would have done worse damage with it. Hope its not too sore.
Migration info. Legacy thread was 6561
Olivia
When the system works it's fine - it just doesn't work all the time. Porsche have not said either way at this stage whether it can be fixed or not, however if the problem continues I will ask them to change the system under the warranty. The problem though as I understand it is in the optical wiring, not the PCM unit, so not sure where we go from here.......
The finger is a bit sore, but I suppose it means I can't be cought picking my nose at traffic lights for a while!
