Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I think I used the "Snowflake" terminal as my trigger for the new relay.
Leading evidence: 'Use "snowflake" terminal as my trigger' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check continuity between pin 85' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Bump, interested in this issue as well since I am using the 996.1 DME to supply 12v to my GM AC compressor.

I have since sold the car and the related wiring diagrams I made/used during the LS swap.

I'm using the Terminator X to ground the AC relay, but need an input from snowflake.

I looked back through the electronic files I saved and some of the A/C files I used were a Zip file.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Having an air conditioner relay firing problem. Does anyone know for sure
what tells the CU DME its ok to send the grnd signal to pin 85 on the ac
relay? For some reason I am not getting it? I was thinking that the pressure switch on the system would tell the CU DME that the system was charged and ready to go and that was it but now I'm not sure?
Thanks,
John
Last activity from the OP was 6 years ago, so don’t expect a response from him.
Usually only the pressure sensor and the AC controls should be required to make the ECU or BCU turn on the compressor.
Durametric should be able to switch it on to test the compressor clutch and ECU-clutch wiring.
Thanks for the quick response!!! I'm confident the pressure switch is good. I have 12V at the relay. What I don't have is voltage across Pins 86and 85. 86 is hot and 85 is the ground supplied by the ECU these are the relay coil terminals. When I check for continuity between pin 85, with the "Snowflake" pressed, and ground it's very weak. When i check with "Snowflake" not on , nothing, which I would suspect. If I ground that relay the A/C compressor comes on.
Thanks

I thought the snowflake pin 69 would see a weak 12v PWM signal, but now Im thinking its a ground signal. I can check and report back if theres others interested.
I have since sold the car and the related wiring diagrams I made/used during the LS swap. If my memory serves me correctly I think I installed another relay back at the DME. I can't recall what I used as the "Trigger" wire but I did retain the "Snowflake" button. I'll continue to think about it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
This is helpful itself! Thanks for chiming in. If you remember anything else, please share! I just started wiring in another relay for "trigger" myself. I'm using the Terminator X to ground the AC relay, but need an input from snowflake. Hoping the fix is just realizing it's a ground trigger from snowflake at pin 69.
I looked back through the electronic files I saved and some of the A/C files I used were a Zip file. I've not renewed my subscription so I can't open them. I can send them to you, possibly, if you can open them. I think I used the "Snowflake" terminal as my trigger for the new relay. I have a lot of weakness's , LOL, and automotive electric is a big one!!!!. I think that signal triggers a ground on/off to complete the circuit. I'm a retired HVAC guy and we NEVER switched a ground, but apparently that's common in cars.
Good luck
Ahh this sounds inline with my plan! Yeah if you want to send them to me, I can probably open them. I'll send you a PM.
I hear you on the ground activation...I haven't seen that very much outside of automotive but it does make sense in a way. lol!
