Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Evening all, I'm in the process of researching some parts to go into my wife's 996. Have purchased some coil overs and having some professional help with working out spring rates to provide a close to factory outcome, slightly lowered with spacers. On the topic of top mounts my mechanic has suggested Elephant Racing units. He mentioned that I should go for the units that are still rubber but in between the original replacements and the solid units. Looking at their site, it just seems that they have either direct replacements of the originals or an adjustable 'quickchange' unit. Would be very grateful for any suggestions or guidance from the Forum. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend elephant mounts.  I did 20m ( car moved around a workshop)  and got a world wide recall notice on my 996 ohlins road and track  coilover kit  just after they were installed.   Part of the engineered solution  was replacement front struts and elephant racing front top  strut mounts.

POST 3Original post

Agree 100%. I have mostly Elephant Racing parts on my 996 including the strut tops and have never had an issue with any of their parts.

Damn I just installed a new set of 996 Ohlins R&T and didn't know there was a recall!

The recall was back in Dec 2020 and only on 996 turbo and c4s kits.
