Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had those same wheels, same fitment on my NB 2001 C4 and I changed them because they would rub even with 275s on the rear. Now I have 997 Turbo style wheels with 305s without any rubbing.

POST 2Original post

When I was a kid I always wanted a 911 and now I have one. I Rule!

I worked as a valet at The Porsche Store in Dallas, Texas from 17-19. I swore the first Porsche I owned was going to be a 996. My dream has come true. 1999 SY 996 Cab 71k for $17K. Can't beat a moving out of the country deal!!!

But now, he wants a Lotus and he may just get it next year . He may get the 996 in 12 years too.......if the engine doesn't blow up by that time (knock wood!).

POST 14Original post

SY996CAB, nice ride! I just scored my 99C2 with 88k miles for $17k as well about a month back. Local WA car. I need to clean and take pic when it warms up some here (lower teens right now!)

I have side panels on rear bumper. I assumed that they belong to the Aero -package but do they? Most aeros that I have seen lack those panels. I wonder if the panels really have an aerodynamic effect or are they just for looks?

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 2651785

Quote: There are part of the MKI aerokit, yes. They are functional. The MKII does not have them any longer. Some people do not like them that is why you don't see them often. But they are correct.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 2652023

Quote: Yes, they are rarely seen. I tried to google 996 aeros but could not find one with those flaps.

I think they might be some in this threat, start from the beginning. If nothing else, lots of fun to go through it.

POST 31Original post

Here's my contribution to this thread. Pic was taken just a few days ago. The LR3 on the background is my daily family SUV. The OEM aero bumper was installed a day after this pic. I will post as soon as I take some front shots of the new bumper.

POST 32Original post

Looks good. Yes, shoot a pic that shows frontal angle.

POST 34Original post

jr1966 - let's see the front, for sure ! Where did you get that rear diffuser ?

POST 35Original post

Quotes source post: 2712715

POST 39Original post

Quotes source posts: 2712715, 2712881

Quote: Quote: ok, as you guys had requested. a couple more pics of the rear bumper at different angles. the diffuser is part of the valance that went under the OEM rear bumper. and yes, it is from gt3tek and it is made out of poly which is the material i prefer for anything close to the ground. and here's the only shot i took of the front lip. imo, it looks okay on some angles but just plain nasty on most that i just had to replace it. it was changed to the gt3 bumper the day after this shot was taken.

POST 42Original post

JR1966, I've always loved those exhaust tips, but didn't think they would look good on a NB...I stand corrected! Are those OEM tips?

POST 44Original post

Looks better than I thought it would. The pic is a bit dark, but still hard to see the seam. I guess this is one of the good angles.

Jr1966, I like how you customized your car. What is the size of the wheels? Offset? What type springs do you have and how low? Thanks.

POST 48Original post

Quotes source post: 2714012

Quote: No, they're not OEM. I purchased them cheap from ebay just to try them out. I would safely say they are replicas. I am thinking of having them ceramic-coated black though to go with the all-black theme of the car.

Brick...Very nice. That the MKI GT3 front bumper? If so, I noticed that on some bumpers there's a blank panel in the middles and others are 'open" Is the middle opening painted or open?

POST 56Original post

Quotes source post: 2715415

Quote: You're welcome! I've been breaking my piggy bank ever since I got my car!

POST 57Original post

jr1966, Your car looks really sweet, especially with the windows down (sorry, just being honest). Are you absolutely certain that you want to add the LED's? They look kinda cheap/Altezza-ish (unlike the 997 mk2).

POST 58Original post

Quotes source post: 2716209

Quote: Well, I like to play around a little bit. I don't intend to sell the OEMs, therefore, if I don't like the LEDs, I can always put the OEMs back on. Sometimes, pics don't do justice to a product, so, for me, there is nothing compared to actually seeing the product on the car before deciding if it looks good or not. This is sort of a gamble, a $500 gamble. If I don't like it, I do lose $500, but I can always sell the LEDs and the loss is less than that.

POST 67Original post

Just wanted post a few pics,Ive been upgrading my 2003 C2 over the last 2 years and just finished installing a carrera wing,i went with that option, because i think it complements the aero sideskirts and the over all shape .(just a side note ive purchased a Gemballa GT lip for the front end, also very suttle and doesnt lower the front that much, its been painted but not installed, ill wait for the spring and the post some updated photos) .Plus 2003 really was the anniversary of porsche so ive added a few touches to celebrate this event, like the polished carrera 5 spoke wheels and chrome lug nuts, witch really made a difference, especially against the midnight blue paint. Also 911 script on the rear deck and a 911 anniversary logo in the interior. As far as the engine,we have a fabspeed cold air intake, revo technic chip upgrade, and tubi exhaust. As far as performance,i gained about 12 hp and better throttle response,(maybe a few more with the tubi)im happy with the results so far,but remember!some of the promises made with these upgrades are a little hyped!so consider the cost versus what youll be gaining in actual performance.Of course if i actually had a 2004 anniversary series 911 then the x51 engine upgrade does make a difference. Also waiting for my KW coilovers to be delivered,i did a lot of research on what the best route for upgrading the suspension was and decided to go with KW,theres a great article in the january issue of GTPORSCHE magazine a british magazine available at barnes and noble that really sold me.Of course the car has been 3M treated hood, bumper, headlamps and lower sections of the wheelwells. This was a must as the roads in the new york long island area are pretty lousy the stone chips are inevitable,Also as far as installation goes be careful who you choose, because its an art to install this product the right way, when its done wrong it really looks like crap. These products have come a long way and i recommend them highly! The windows have also been tinted with a 3M product and the same applies!its worth paying a little more and have it done right!there are a lot of bad tint jobs out there. As far as the interior goes, this car came from the factory with a partial alumalook parts, gearshift ,hand brake, gauge surrounds and horseshoe,Im in touch with Dallas Steering Wheel in texas, there gonna do the Alcantara upgrades for the interior, steering wheel(extra padding, darkblue center stripe;darkblue stitching)shift **** also with darkblue stitching.handbrake, doorpulls and a few other trim pieces around the center console.Thats gonna breakup the grey interior quite nicely, definetly check out the website, the prices are great, and you can call them, the owner ansewrs the phone and is quite willing to shoot the breeze about what your looking for,He also sent me fabric swatches of the different alcantara colors that i was looking for,and i was able to pick one out as close as possible to the alcantara headliner in the car,Lloyd custom mats round out the interior, they are grey with darkblue "carrera" logo and darkblue piping.Ive also installed a few rennline products as well including a fire extingusher mount, pedal set,and stainless steel cover for the warning indicator lights,Eric at BumperPlugs did the center console in matching midnightblue,As far as the brakes go all i did was add StopTech stainless steel brake lines(improved pedal feel slightly)and stuck with oem pads and porshe recomended brake fluid,i dont track the car,so need for aftermarket pads or fluids, and really its hard to beat the porsche parts that were designed for the car!Oh and i also had the rotor hats painted,a sweet touch as these have a tendency to rust, and behind those sweet polished wheels well you wouldnt want that!.Detailing Dynamics of mineola long island, handled the upgrades on the car and also all of the detailing chores,i highly recommend them and have used them going on 8 years now,you may pay a little extra, but if your a fanatic like me and only the best will do,theres really no other choice.Check out there website its very cool,Kudos to Matt and Eddie and the rest of the crew for treating me like a friend and taking care of my 911 like its their own.
