Hey Guys, Anyone have a
Cobb Accessport
for a 2013 991.1
Carrera
that I can use to flash the
ECU
and
PDK
? Will to play
It doesnt work that way. The
Cobb
devices and tunes are serial numbered and married to only one car, and can only be unmarried to be used on another if the person with it removes their tune so it can be set up for use and be installed on another car
You will need to buy your own new one with the tunes installed, or look for a used deal from someone selling theirs that is unmarried, but they hold their value pretty well and still sell used for about 1K or more, not including the expensive optional
PDK
tune
Thanks for the info. Any experience with the
PDK
tune?
Yes I have it. It doesn’t really do much for you if you happen to already have the
sport Chrono
option with
launch
control capability, or if you like to drive in manual shift mode all of the time were you are already in control of the shift points.
It’s really only beneficial for guys who like to use automatic shift mode, as it increases the shift points from the extremely lazy and fuel economy programmed
Porsche
logic, or if you plan on having a 3.8 L motor swap, as it has a high torque mode for those situations
Other options within the software allow you to remove the “creep“ so that the car will not move forward when you let off the brake, and instead will roll backward like a full manual transmission unless you touch the throttle.
This mode also reverses the shift direction if using the console shifter so that it’s like the GT three and other GT cars from this era, pull back to go up in gear and push forward to go down in gear
I liked the reversal of the center console shifter, however I hated The no creep mode, as it causes the car to lurch at the slightest touch of the throttle which was a problem for me in slow maneuvering and trying to park in a parking garage without ramming my expensive aftermarket front spoiler into a concrete parking barrier
I wish they would allow the user to select the specific features that they want or don’t want to install, however some of these are bundled together and you have no choice but to take them all
It’s an expensive option, and in retrospect I wouldn’t buy it again knowing what I know now. I was an early adopter a few years ago immediately after the software came out
It really depends upon what specific thing you are trying to change or problem you are trying to solve with the option?
Thanks again for the info - super helpful.
I drive in manual sport+ 99% of the time - was hoping he
PDK
tune would make the shifts faster/more abrupt. Is that the case?
Not noticeably more for me personally, but I manually shift in Sport + mode all of the time. The factory shift speed on the
PDK
is already like lightning to begin with. Again, it may make the shifts much firmer in full auto more where this options seems to be most effective to begin with, but I wouldn't know since Im always in control of my shift points already
I purchased it in hopes that it would resolve the dead stop, sudden throttle hesitation/slip off the line that occurs on the
PDK
cars, but I learned long ago that's just the way the
PDK
operates as its essentially a manual, just with an electronic clutch and no torque converter, so it moves off the line like a manual does.
