Time has passed so I will reply (996.2 manual C2 not a Tip TT), but I recently replaced my engine mounts, it's very easy in an hour at home.

Pretty much every other possibility has been eliminated and bearing in mind I can find no evidence of the mounts having been changed, the car is probably on its originals which arte now 22 years old!

I don't want to re-run the debate and was just hoping that someone with a 996TT Tip with RSS mounts could give their views.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996TT Tiptronic has a small clunk when pulling away quickly and I am pretty sure it is the engine mounts. Pretty much every other possibility has been eliminated and bearing in mind I can find no evidence of the mounts having been changed, the car is probably on its originals which arte now 22 years old! I plan to change the transmission mount as well and I was wondering what the views were on the RSS mounts v OEM. I have read loads of articles some of which say it is the best upgrade for the money whilst others are less complimentary and report increased noise and vibration. I don't want to re-run the debate and was just hoping that someone with a 996TT Tip with RSS mounts could give their views. Any other options or should I just stick with stock? Many thanks.

POST 2Original post

Time has passed so I will reply (996.2 manual C2 not a Tip TT), but I recently replaced my engine mounts, it's very easy in an hour at home. OEM engine mounts felt brilliant with no increase in NVH. The GB mount is much harder to fit, most suggest removing the GB to push fit the new GB mount. A quick option is to slide in a powerflex bush into the voids of the OEM mount. I tried this and it was HORRIBLE, the NVH increase had me convinced my engine was broken. Removed it very quickly... OEM is nearly always the answer

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply. I have decided to stick with OEM
