Purchased a 2001 986 Boxster S about 2 months ago and still getting to know the car. Strangely, today while out driving, I noticed that where the trip odometer has been displayed the outside ambient temperature is displayed, and I can't see to get it to switch back to showing the trip mileage. Any ideas? The trip mileage briefly displays when starting up, as temp used to, but now temp is the default displayed while driving.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Have you tried the left adjuster with the 00 on it by twisting it?
Don't you have an owners manual? I don't have a 986 , but on 987 there's a second stalk on the lower left side of the steering wheel that allows you to display various data on the trip computer display. If you don't have a manual you can probably find a pdf file online. It is full if essential info about your car.
Thanks for the reply. That is what was not working, but discovered based on 2nd reply that there is a switch to the left of the steering wheel. I bought this car a couple months ago but have not had time to play, yet. It is a very different beast from anything I have ever owned.
Thank You! You are correct and I should have remembered that. I bought this car a couple months back but have had zero opportunity to play with it. I have owned Z cars, S 2000, Miata , but this is my first Porsche. It is a very different beast in many ways.
