I have a 2005 997s with 38k miles....do the plugs need to be changed. bought the car a few months ago and not sure if they r the originals

The change interval for plugs will be in the "owners" maintenance book. I think you are due to change them at around 70K. 38K is too early if the car is in a decent state of tune.

Do them on your 60K check up. Porsche recommend the first main biggy check over at 60,000 miles. Mine is due right now but is running so good I will stretch it until the spring.

I had the same situation - bought a 2005 997 with 39,000 miles back in September. New plugs are recommended at the 60,000 major service or after 4 years. With my car being an early 2005, it is 8 years old so I elected to go ahead and replace them. It was probably not necessary but it made me feel better-
