Hi, I have read many previous post on the forum. I have checked and moved the seat postion for passenger, didn't work. I've disconnected the battery for a couple of hours, didn't work. I replaced the water pump and thermostat last week and move the passenger seat forward to get a little more room. I didn't remove it. While doing this and ordering parts and waiting the battery which was still hooked up went dead. I've charged it, car starts and runs great. Bought and Icarsoft cr pro reader (documentation says it will reset the airbag light. Didn't work. I've also noticed the drivers seat seems softer than usual, will pull that seat out next . Could something have broken under seat that would cause this? Do I really need to go to a dealer to have this reset or is there another way? 2002 Boxter base, 2.7L, 5 spd. Thanks in advance, Jerry

If you can find someone with access to a PIWIS 2 unit, you can quickly clear the codes and diagnose if there is a fault somewhere - no trip to the dealer needed.

Does the icarsoft read the status of devices? ie - can it tell if the passenger seat occupancy sensor is working? If there is an issue with one of the devices that's part of the passive restraint system, the light will stay on even if you clear it. It will stay on until it thinks everything is working.

Jerry, I had the same problem, what I found was the resistance in the seat belt system is very sensitve. if the ground point under the seat or the electric connector has any crorrorion the light will stay on. SO THE FIX is, clean the ground and connector and use STABILANT on both. Stabilant will increase the conductivity. Stabiliant is like magic. You can order it from Amazon .
