here's my 4.0 C4S that I built up and swapped the tiptronic our for a 6 speed manual.
Leading evidence: 'Replace tiptronic our' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace guards red over black 1989 944s2' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Upgraded my tail and side light to LEDs.
The taillights are the "Black Smoke" LED option. I really liked the center reflector and the bottom of the LEDs.
The sides are the non-Amber white LEDs.
Both done at Del Rey Customs in Venice. True plug and play no adapters.

Hello:
I've got an aesthetics question for my fellow 996ers. Here's what my car looks like (got this image off the internet, but everything's the same except for the wheels):
As many of you know, Fuchs is making some modern versions of their famous windmill wheels. This is what the standard wheel color options look like:
Of those options, I think the the ones with the silver petals are the coolest, BUT, here's the one I want your opinions on. They are totally unpainted:
So, my friends, what do you think? If you hadn't guessed, I'm not super tied to what went on widebody v narrowbody back in the old days. Just want to get some outside opinions on my idea before I drop the $$$!
thanks,
Steerpike
Recently joined the club and added some DRLs. These are a test set (cheap auction site version). Eventually, I'll get a higher quality set, but happy with the result and added visibilty.
Picking up my new C4S next week. Guards Red over black. Bone stock. Factory options were red console, red belts, embossed seat crests, and draped leather. 85k miles, Clutch/IMS/RMS/etc. done 3 years/10k miles ago. I had been shopping for a C2, but managed to find this one within my budget. Replacing my Guards Red over black 1989 944S2.

I agree the Fuchs with the silver petals are the coolest. Like to see them on my car.
For the first time in 10 years of ownership, I may need snow tires. I've been told they do not make snow tires for factory set of wheels. Anyone running snows? What are my options?
here are some old pictures of my 2004 C4s a few years before I sold in in 2008 - traded it and burned through 3 more P cars but back looking at the C4S again.
have found a nice Atlas Grey one on the market - that colour was my first choice when I got the first 4S, but I ended up with a Basalt black. anyway, always loved the Atlas Gray.

Hi all,
Owned this C4S for about 4 years now.
Looked hard to find white/black combination.
Luckily this C4S was nicely done with Techart black wheels along with spoiler, IPD plenum, and PSS9 suspension.
Since it had 68k miles, I decided to do the clutch and IMS upgrade. I also upgraded to Alpine stereo/JL amps & speakers.
Lots of fun and good news is car has held its value so well.
ps. Shall I change oil each year even if only 2k miles per year?
Patrick

For $25k plus/minus, there's no better Porsche on the market, imho.
One can get newer cayman or boxster, or older super high mileage 964 w/ oil leaks & bad AC...but for me, unless one is willing to pay $35k+ for 996TT or 997.2, the C4S is the best car for the $.

Here is what I read on the PCA email I got last night... Please see the link and can any one tell me know and where to find the release!

Zook, what are the specs on those HREs?
After keeping it stock for a few years, finally starting the wheel search. Hard to find ones that fit the car better than the twists though!

UPDATE:
Aerokit II wing is off to a new happy home in Idaho. Thanks,
@c210rg
.
Pretty quiet thread here... hopefully I can get some guidance. A friend took over a car dealership and ended up with a bunch of Porsche parts. Most interesting to this forum: an Aerokit II rear lid. It's a bare lid (no reflector) and in OE black paint. I offered to sell it for him. My guess is the value is around $4400. Thoughts?
Quote:
Pretty sure it's the same part for both, but in any case, this was left in a shop by the shop's previous owners. It was on a shelf for many years. I have no info on its origin.
If it fit a Turbo, I'd have bought it for my car...
Quote:
The C4S cab and the turbo use the same size rear cover, so they are interchangeable. The 4S coupe uses a different size, it's actually shorter. The 4S coupe is the only 996 that is not interchangeable with any other 996 variant. I have been trying to search the part number off your pictures, but can not determine for sure which one it is. I am sure you can understand me not wanting to spend a bunch of money and it not fit. May I ask where you are located, maybe I can see it and measure it.
Well, I have a 996 Turbo cab and this lid is significantly shorter, so I'm guessing it's for a coupe. I'm in Los Angeles, on the West side. Not that close to IdyHo...
Happy to take any measurements you want.
wonder if it's a different dimension because it's a C4S part that leaves room for the rear reflector? It's the one cool feature of the c4s that they try to maintain with factory aero kits.
Heres my 2002 4S. Fabspeed carbon intake, Ruf spoiler and Ruf mufflers but the rest of the exhaust is crap. Ohlins coilovers and the heaviest 19 junk wheels. Trying to decide on wheels now but I want to go down to 18s.
Wheels are silver now and front lip and skirts are black again.
I received an email yesterday reminding me that it's been 22 years since I joined this Forum.
On July 29th, it will be 22 years since I purchased my Artic Silver C4S, which I still own.
It has done 110,000 km and is in "factory fresh" condition, with absolutely no modifications. Every thing works perfectly, even the 6 CD changer.
I have bought and sold several sports cars in the meantime, but I've kept this one because, in my opinion, it's the only one which provides me with genuine driving pleasure.
I currently run 2 987.2's- Cayman s Black Edition and a Boxster S and recently purchased a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0.
The more modern Porsches appear to lack that direct connection and the seamless nature of that flat six. So, here's to the next 22 years.
Greetings from Madrid, Spain.
