I guess that switch was bypassed and jumped up to the manual switch at the cowl, and and then the two wires , blue and brown, were disconnected accidentally, by me.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect accidentally, by me' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect accidentally, by me' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. But I am also thinking to just disconnect them back down at the fuse box (after taking a good picture) and then plugging the connect back to the fuse box switch and testing function.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was monkeying around with the center console radio wires and such. On the left side of that cowl, there are some toggle switches, one of which was a manual control on the rear spoiler. Unfortunately, when I was pulling the stereo, I also pulled 2 wires off from their connection somewhere in the dash. I assume these were going to some relay as when looking through the parts catalog, thee seemed to be some mention of spoiler relays, but climbing under the front well, I'm not able to see anything. I also notice that the manual toggle switch on the fuse panel does nothing.
Could someone give me some idea of how the center cowl panel toggle switch runs? It was less than 14 inches in length, 2 wire, blue and brown splitting off from the switch (and other wires connected to the switch) Trying to understand where it goes and how to access it.
Also, any thoughts on the manual toggle switch on the fuse panel would be helpful.

I'm not sure what you're looking for help with, exactly. Are you looking to restore operation of the spoiler switch, and trying to figure out where it is supposed to go? Like you said, it's likely going to a relay to operate the motor.
I might suggest getting a short-term subscription to All Data DIY as they seem to have excellent schematics and such (based on what I hear - haven't needed it myself, yet). That would help us find where the relay is, etc... and where the switch is supposed to go. You can then share the images here and I'm happy (and others may as well) to help further if needed...
So basically, yes I am trying to restore the switch capability. Obviously the wires at the switch at the cowl are still connected. Its the other end that pulled off inside the dash someplace.
And then there is the potentially separate issue of the toggle switch down at the fuse panel. That doesnt seem to function as well.
I do have some sort of electronic manual diagrams Im trying to weed through now. Not sure where it came from. It might show the connectivity schematically, but not physically. Im still trying to decipher them as it looks like a series of screen shots of pages and the page size is mismatches to the image. Meaning it takes a few images to represent a physical page because the page type is a large schematic.
Ugh, yeah, that stinks to have poor documentation to work with. I wish carmakers would just provide that info, as it's not proprietary in any way... but that's a conversation for another time.
Again, AllDataDIY might be a good thing to check out, even for a month... from what I hear, they have colored diagrams to work with making it a LOT easier to trace the circuit.
As for physical locations, agreed that those won't show in the schematic, but usually they provide some idea of where things are located or a name of it. Once we know that, we can help figure out where that may be. Fact is, there are only a few places relays are in the car. I know on the
987.2
(my car) has some on the fuse panel, but also some tucked up over the driver's footwell (as I learned recently from a Youtube video). So, see if you can identify the name location or neighboring relays to it... good luck!
From what Ive gathered so far, there are 2 relay supports. Support1 is supposed to be right
next
to the fuse box in the driver side footwell where you take off the plastic cover and then remove 4 screws behind the cover to remove the fuse box and peel back the carpet. But that support would seem to be more than 14 inches away from the switch. Support2 i thought was in the rear trunk, so that's obviously out also.
And with respect to the docs, I'm not seen anything related to spoiler relay with a blue and brown wire either.
In terms of nomenclature in my diagrams, I'm seeing references to: button spoiler, rel. spoiler, spoiler extend, , rel. spoiler extension, re; spoiler retraction, drive spoiler.
Since the wires don't seem to be long enough to reach the relay support, I questioning whether they somehow go to power and ground. Somehow, in combination with the other wires connected to the switch, maybe the they effect a circuit from that perspective and the rest of those wires make it to the relay. There are 3 other wires that are still connected to that switch: lt brown?, yellow, light blue? in addition to the blue and brown which are now hanging.
so I finally took the
porsche
out yesterday for a 50 mile drive to help someone else broken down and when I got back, I noticed the rear spoiler was up and the tape I had over it was gone. I was surprised it was not down again. But clearly, the ECM is actuating the spoiler based upon speed, at least upward.
a bit more, i just went out and played some more, now the manual switch on the cowl is working partially, it will lower the spoiler if it is already raised, but not raise it if it is lowered. Now I question if those two wires from the cowl switch do anything or were left over from some other modification before my time. But the switch on the fuse box does not do anything. So the spoiler itself does function up and down, its just the controls that are questionable.
I'll just comment on AllDataDIY.. for my 2009
Boxster
- they have the standard factory wiring diagrams - where a circuit may span pages and pages going from one end to the other, and to really track oit down, you need to print out all those pages, tape them together and get out a highlighter.
AllData
did that for you. When you click on a particular wire in a circuit - all the paths it takes are highlighted for you. No printing out pages of barely readable diagrams - it's VERY easy to track down even the most obscure circuit in the 987. As far as I know - this system is only on
AllData
- they developed it. I haven't tried doing that with my Cayenne subscription, but I think I'll have to.
A months subscription is something like $25. What is your time worth? What does it cost to go to the dealer or an independent? What tool do you think the independent is going to use (it's not a Chinese

[Rant-on]It never fails to amaze me that people smart enough to buy a

The two wires you show are a coax cable of some kind, the brown wire is the outer shield. The blue wire is the signal wire. What is connects to the end that is still connected?
I just went out this second to pull the fuse box cover from the driver side based upon a forum I was reading on 986forum related to not having a spoiler switch. What I found was that the switch has no connector and the connector seems to be jump.
And you can see the color of the wires is basically the same as that up at the manual toggle at the radio cowl, so making progress. I guess that switch was bypassed and jumped up to the manual switch at the cowl, and and then the two wires , blue and brown, were disconnected accidentally, by me. I suspect they go to the dash display, but not sure. But I am also thinking to just disconnect them back down at the fuse box (after taking a good picture) and then plugging the connect back to the fuse box switch and testing function. Comments on both aspects?
Also, @

I didnt really follow what you were saying in your latest comment, can you rephrase?
"The two wires you show are a coax cable of some kind, the brown wire is the outer shield. The blue wire is the signal wire. What is connects to the end that is still connected? "
ok, I did check the lower fuse panel switch and it works fine in both directions once the connector is reattached.
Green/Black goes to blue
Green/red? goes to yellow
Brown goes to Brown.
what is confusing to me is it seems the fuse switch only has 3 wires going to it and is able to control the spoiler in both directions on its own, yet the cowl switch has 5 wires and does not control it (right now at least). Does the cowl toggle switch have some sort of relay in it that requires power? and thats what the blue and yellow wire are for??
The installation/wiring you're showing us is someones besides
Porsche
's wiring. I couldn't even begin to try and guess what the wiring does. It would give me a headache.
