Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2003 Boxster S and the cupholder is stuck. Any ideas on how to open?

POST 2Original post

1st- Welcome! 2d - Not really. Push - release over and over. Maybe gently wedge a plastic knife into the edge and pry. good luck.

POST 3Original post

If it really is jammed closed and you can't get it with a butter knife or something, you could always pop the entire cup holder assembly out of the dash.

POST 4Original post

you could always pop the entire cup holder assembly out of the dash And put it in the trash where it belongs! I do agree to remove the unit, which is very simple once you remove the "horseshoe".

POST 5Original post

I meant remove it to try and fix it, but it really does belong in the trash. The ultimate cup holder is thousand times better.

POST 6Original post

On my car to remove it you just pop the trim piece off, literally just snaps on. Then it's four phillips screws and it's out.

POST 7Original post

Cup holders? You guys got cup holders? Sports cars <> cup holders.

POST 8Original post

The cup holders on my 03 also get stuck sometimes. I've always been able to get them open by pushing on it at different spots several times. Then it works again without issue several times before it doesn't want to readily open again.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the tips, what is the ultimate cup holder??

POST 11Original post

2nd from top: http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/ Easy in, easy out. I keep mine on the passenger side I got rid of my useless original cupholders ages ago, and moved the A/C controls up to where they belonged ("cupholderectomy"). Then I got rid of the equally useless CD holder, and now I have two useful oddments trays at the bottom, as well as a good place to mount my iPod.

POST 12Original post

How difficult was it to move your AC controls to the top?
