Assuming you checked all connections back of radio ?

To gain a better understanding of the situation and identify the exact purpose of these wires, it would be advisable to consult with a professional car audio technician or an experienced mechanic who can inspect the wiring and provide you with accurate information and potential solutions.

I have a 2004 C4S and have just installed a bluetooth adaptor (Rennkit BTR-3) to the CDR-23 (Bose System with CD Changer). Unfortunately install did not work.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Background - bought my C4S nine mos. ago. CDR 23 installed, no cd changer, AUX input jack mounted to bottom of center console. About two months after purchase, radio would make static noise, then drop out, return. Been out for about six months now.
I started to explore removing the CD holder and cubby related to a planned console delete. Behind I find a stray black wire tagged into another muck'd together wiring loom. I decide today to just have out with the whole center console.
There's the mess of a wiring loom, obviously not factory. Then, I also find a purple and a grey wire running below the shifter console to the rear (to what I don't know yet). The AUX input jack was a rather heavy gage double wire ( like speaker) that was zip tied to the shifter cable.
Does anyone have a clue what I'm looking at here?

Looks like they spliced in to the phone connector for switched power and ground which is fine. What year is the car? Does it have most bus aka fiber connections to stereo and amp? What kind of amp in the frunk? Bose or non Bose? Let me know and happy to help as I have dealt with this on my 04 c2 and 03 turbo.
possible issues and solutions :
- amp is likely bad ( hence my questions above on year and type) I have several spares sitting around that I acquired over the last 3 yrs solving stereo issues
- stereo may be dying
both options above eBay or Becker in NJ to repair but even they will tell you it is a design flaw and a fix is temporary
if amp and stereo are good , I would add an isimple bluetooth interface ( $100 ish from Amazon ) and tap at the phone cable like in your pics. This gives you bluetooth streaming with text on the stereo itself and handsfree calling and Siri/ google assist.
let me know. Thx - scrh1

Thank you!

Amp - I've checked fuse panel - both are good. Amp (MOST) has red light on FO cable.
Head unit powers on just fine - switches between modes fine - CD spins up. Just no audio.
No problem at all. So it is a most system and you have a bad most amp likely. Was this a Bose system or no? Does radio yield sound or very faint / crackling / any sound at all or very faint? Assuming you checked all connections back of radio ? . Usually means one of the the 6 Channels on that amp or all are bad. I have rarely seen a CDR-23 go bad but the amps go bad often. A few options at this point :
- find a known working amp on eBay ( 300-1000$ ). Buy from dealer ( 1400$ maybe less but not worth it ) or contact Becker for a replacement or repair. Roughly 300-1500$ depending on luck
- send off to Sweden for 400$ and wait a few weeks. This guy can fix them permanently. Wasn’t option at peak pandemic for me so I went eBay routes
- replace amp and head unit with aftermarket. You can buy an adapter harness from bergville fx , add a 6 Chanel amp and song,e din continental heady it and you are at close to 700$
- while there nights as well replace those janky speakers. Less than a 150 for the 4 in the car. Leave the door cards alone unless one of them is bad ( subs).
- other interesting bluetooth options out there I have found too. Just depends on goals
hope that helps. Let me know on Bose or non Bose and I can help from there.
Non-Bose, no sound at all. I was cracking a bit in the days leading up to outright failure.
The Continental unit was the way I was leaning anyway. I'd just like to replace the head unit and have decent sound from the existing speakers. I'll replace the amp if needed (but likely aftermarket if so).
I do need to check the back of the unit, yet.
Not sure it its relevant or not but scotch locks ( the blue thing) are notorious for breaking contact. We always removed them back in my car stereo installation career.
My money is on the amp. When mine went I had faint crackling from a few speakers and none on others. Amp has a design flaw and Porsche mounted it in the frunk which exacerbates the heat and moisture killing it. If replacing there are a few types out there but on,y one correct one for you.
some bad news for you since it is a most system there is no easy way to replace stereo if you retain the most system ( otherwise you are doing some serious splicing which may already be in place for you. You will need a fiber most adapter. The best if these are made in surprise Russia causing some availability and import issues o say the least. Chinese ones out there but are more trouble than they are worth.
I had the continental installed with a most adapter and I had horrible alternator whine in the car. Stereo was decent and had bluetooth and streaming. I removed it and went back stick with the isimple bluetooth and it is much better imo.
options:
- you will need to replace factory amp or get an adapter and retire for non fiber amp
- once above is done you will be back in business.
I would go the replace or repair amp and the adapter. This leaves car stock looking and gives you some and callerid on the CDR-23
becker site and numbers : Not super helpful and very Jersey ! Email was better experience with them

I have a 2004 C4S and have just installed a bluetooth adaptor (Rennkit BTR-3) to the CDR-23 (Bose System with CD Changer). Unfortunately install did not work. Upon completing the install and after running the cables to the BTR-3, I saw what looks to be like another aftermarket connection (the ones that use FM Signal).
Radio does work properly (as it did before the install) and I can see the Bluetooth connection in my phone, but when I press the CD button on the CDR-23 nothing happens.
Ideas?
We have so much experience with this after selling around 1000 BTR-3 kits. Our goal is to listen to issues should they occur in order to provide the necessary remedy. In case you haven't, please reach out to us!

Based on your description, it seems like you have discovered some unusual wiring in your Porsche C4S. The stray black wire tagged into the wiring loom and the non-factory mess of wiring could indicate that previous modifications or aftermarket installations were made to the car's audio system. The presence of the purple and grey wires running below the shifter console adds to the mystery, as their purpose is unclear. To gain a better understanding of the situation and identify the exact purpose of these wires, it would be advisable to consult with a professional car audio technician or an experienced mechanic who can inspect the wiring and provide you with accurate information and potential solutions.
My car is a 04 plate 2.7 with just the front speakers in the dash , so no door speakers and no rear speakers , no cd changer and no amp. It's not a Bose system. i have just added two rear speakers and taken the speaker wires to the ISO connector where the front speakers are also connected. This works. i found when the unit was out that there is a connection to the yellow c1 plug which according to the wiring diagram is a line out , however line out to what ? Also not all the pins are connected ,
