Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

New (to me) C4S! Wonderful road-trip back from Fresno, California to Kelowna, BC. Highway 97 through the Northwest interior is beautiful. The Shoe Tree, Oregon: Vintage pumps: Love this car. I have been looking forward to a Porsche for ages.

POST 8Original post

You said it right on the nose! New to me! Have fun with it! Drive it! Mod it! Best of all enjoy it. Life is too short! Gota enjoy everyday like it's your last.

POST 11Original post

I really agree that the 996 C4S is one of, if not the sexiest 911 to ever sit on a showroom floor. Great form right out of the box. Great flics by all.

POST 12Original post

Hey Zookie, What are your front and rear settings on your PSS9's? How's the ride quality? I also have PSS9"s, and would consider going a little lower... Thanks A few pics of mine

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 1765597

Quote: Front is Low All-The-Way, Rear is Equal as front for a Flat Stance.... i belive fronts are at 5 and rear is at 4... Ride quality is great... i dont Track, just Cruise the Streets... I wish the Front was More Lower... Wish i had bought H&R Coils coz they go Lower...

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 1765633

Quote: I have the H&R's--they certainly can go very low. I actually was considering switching to PSS9's for a bit more ride quality. Trade? Here's a pic...I've raised the back since then, but I think you can get a 2.25" drop F and R.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 1765815

Quote: i don't like how your rear wheel gap is lower than the front. all 911s should have the rear wheel gap higher than the front since all the weight is back there. BMWs.. front should have a little bigger gap than rear.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 1766913

Quote: Ben i thought the same, but i looked into it... Front Lower than the Back is not "Proper/True Aerodynimics" and is Dangerous at High Speeds... The Front Lowers Itself by 1-2 CM at speed of Exices of 120 KMPH Or Higher... Thats why all Germans cars are higher in teh front than the back, because German cars are made for the AUTOBHAN where Speeds are 120 KMPH+

POST 17Original post

sorry bud but that's incorrect. and i've put my car out at 150mph before no issues whatsoever. the gap we're talking about is also so miniscule it shouldn't even matter. heck, you switching up wheels, lowering your car would have more of an impact if any on "aerodynamics" cmon man think it thru in practical terms.

POST 18Original post

haha, i have h&r and i'm on the highest setting for the fronts since i have problems getting into my driveway and the ride quality is killing me. i'm up for a trade for the pss9s =P

POST 19Original post

seeing all these gorgeous C4S's (specifically 996's) is making me think about dropping the GT2M wing and going back to the retractable wing!!!!! HMMMMMMMM...................

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 1766913

Quote: yeah, I had the rear raised about 6 mos ago over at Lucent--the negative camber in the rear was destroying the tires also. The rear is slightly higher than the front at this time.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 1766997

Quote: keep the rear wing, get the front oem aero lip to balance it out. always think about proportions front to back to side. you will regret going wingless as beautiful as the c4s wingless **** is.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 1767064

yeah, you're probably right. would I need to get the rocker panels as well (or just paint them to match)? How much is an OEM aero lip these days??? anybody got one in lapis blue?? Quote:

POST 23Original post

keep the wing! personally, i don't like the reflector and i lovee the gt2 wing. too bad i can't afford a GT2. anyways, here are updates on my car 1 2 3 4

POST 24Original post

^^ Looks fantastic!!!! looks like the wing is staying. hahaha.

polished rims with black centers look so fine against that yellow paint. i think i might like the front lip in yellow instead of black, but it still looks really cool. very nice!

POST 31Original post

hey guys... i'm in Bombay (now known as Mumbai) India. Not that many nice cars around here, all though in the last few years they've started coming into the country. Its pretty much because cars cost us a little over double the price here. and thats double of british prices which is almost 3 times the U.S price. Its a shame... and makes it much harder to customise your car as no parts and ppl to do it for you. so here's as much as i could do to my C4s. Coming to you from Bombay...

Hello everybody: I am wondering if any of you guys have the part number for the Eibach Sport Springs for an 04 996 C4S. The Porsche mechanic down here in Florida told me that the Eibachs work better than the H&Rs in Porsches. However, I haven't been able to locate the part number for these Eibachs for the C4S.

Growlin'! Still haven't done any before/after power measurements yet. I'll wait till there's more airflow stuff and an ECU tune to install... =) Accelerating sounds much better now, however.

POST 49Original post

Quotes source post: 1860382

Quote: it's so rare to see a proper aerokit on the c4s or any 911 for that matter. a sight for sore eyes i tell ya! the twist wheels are trademark porsche and may well be my favorite oem wheel ever. the 996 version. which you and I have... just that my set's gathering dust in storage.

POST 50Original post

Quotes source post: 1164674

Quote: been thinking about putting the H&R lowering springs also. heard many negative comments about putting them on without appropriate upgrade shocks etc. how do you like your setup? also, heard the labor is extensive and not worth doing it. like to hear what you think. im not into the tracking, just daily driving... thx for you input.. john

POST 51Original post

Quotes source post: 1860586

Quote: Yeah, I hear you... I had a hard time even finding decent pictures of the Aerokit on a C4S! Actually, my picture search is what led me to the kit. =) Still, swarms of 996 cup cars riding on 10-leaf mesh wheels can't all be wrong... your wheels look the business. If abandoning stock, that'll be my route. To the poster who asked about H&R springs, my personal taste is to increase damping when increasing spring rate. I just prefer to avoid any extra oscillation when quickly turning in.

POST 53Original post

Quotes source post: 1860914

Quote: agreed very nice but badly in need of the side and rear pieces. way too front heavy as is.

POST 54Original post

Glad someone brought this thread back to life. She's very stock - but somewhat of a somewhat unique color...

POST 55Original post

Quotes source post: 1861012

Quote: your exhaust tips look crooked bro

POST 56Original post

I think the pic is a little crooked too. Thinking about powder coating the stock tips - or maybe picking up some Techart tips... I've tried to polish the stock ones back to life with a sponge soaked in Brasso - worked to some extent after about an hour (each tip).

POST 58Original post

POST 62Original post

Quotes source post: 1860586

Quote: I agree....that's why I really like the RH set that I picked up in 19". Classic Porsche design, with a huge, stylin stepped lip!

POST 63Original post

Quotes source post: 1861845

Quote: I know! =) Now the question is, how do I fix that... Had the car on a lift, and couldn't find anything loose. Not sure if the pipe exiting the muffler itself is bent... I'll have to look again. It's really kind of weird looking, the way it is.

POST 64Original post

Quotes source post: 1861906

Quote: I love the stepped lip bro and that beautiful dish but I don't like the center design of the RHs as it's nothing like the turbo twists. i mean, take a look, they're not the same at all.

POST 65Original post

Quotes source post: 1861910

Quote: i'd have a shop look at it. it's def off kilter.

POST 66Original post

Quotes source post: 1861910

Quote: Loosen up the band clamp that hold the tip pipe to the muffler and move it around till it looks right. I had to take mine off my stock cans and re-install them on the AP's. It took a few adjustments and tweeks to get them right.

POST 67Original post

Quotes source post: 1861916

Quote: See....I disagree. How can you say it is "Totally" different? It is a 5 spoke twist design that is very similar....not EXACT...but similar to the stockers. Hey....the price was right. I kept the BBS's for track wheels.

POST 68Original post

Quotes source post: 1861953

Quote: the spoke swirling/turbine look on your RHs aren't nearly as dramatic as the oem wheels which makes it.... not similar at all.

Here is a picture of mine at the PCA AX school. Not my picture. Christian in Atl 03 C4S, X51, X73, PSE, AERO.

POST 71Original post

Quotes source post: 1861910

Quote: you have to loosen the clamp that holds the exhaust tip to muffler. then comes the fun part: you wiggle the tip around until it's straight. then tighten. sounds easy, but it's kind of a pain. it works better if you can get a friend to eyeball the tip position while you move the pipe around.

POST 72Original post

I had to straighten my tips after the dealer had their hands on them...not hard to do...did it by myself.

POST 73Original post

i think the tips look best when they're close (within reason) to the bumper itself. plus, you have more clearance from parking cement slabs or whatever you call them.
