Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't think my dice are used enough for this kind of roll!
Leading evidence: 'Use enough' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). If you are not mechanically proficient or able to do Repair X, then I suggest you get a PPI before Porsche buy-in.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Do not warm up that car until you get the coolant level back to normal!!!!
Morning all, I recently found a very cheap C4S for sale. I am considering purchasing it but wanted to hear back from the community. The car is rough, rebuilt, 180k, has a service engine now code. I have a cold start video to share with you all.
Please take a look at the video here:

She's a basket case for sure but can I bring her back to life? I'd rather not be pulling the engine, I am happy to do everything else.
Cheers! Blighty
Its the blinking red light in the window with the engine temperature. The expansion tank area also looks empty. The white steam coming out of the exhaust...it may be coolant leak and why you are missing coolant.
Good catch. It has a broken coolant line at the front. My plan would be to pick it up and repair it. I'm kind of on the fence here though. That is a lot of car for 12k though!
I dunno, I think my 99 Cab that is worth $25k is a lot of car for the money too, but it does t need anything either.
Up to you. Its a gamble at $12k, because thats not far from a roller price. It could need $20-$30k worth of work if the engine needs to be rebuilt.
I'll cut to the chase. You're going to have to rebuild this engine. I can already hear piston slap. If you don't believe me, get a PPI and bore scope cylinders 5 and 6.
Ok, you've answered your own question in the bold text above.
There is NO such thing as a cheap Porsche. The cheapest one you buy will become the most expensive to own!
The person is like 5-6 feet away and I can hear the piston slap in this video....

Thanks to @all! Yeah I am gonna let this one go and get a nice 996.1 to love on. I don't think my dice are used enough for this kind of roll! Thanks to all, I love the 996 community.
Yeah, as others have said this is a situation where the juice is not worth the squeeze. No matter how much money and time you invest - it will never be as nice and valuable as one that hasn't been through the wringer.
Ok someone heard a fatal flaw in the prospective C4S. Lucky for you. If you are not mechanically proficient or able to do Repair X, then I suggest you get a PPI before Porsche buy-in. A PPI is Pre-Purchase-Inspection at a Indy Porsche shop or Dealership. It covers Internal Fault Code Severity readouts, suspension, brakes, engine (borescope), shocks, springs, belts, fluids, IMS, RMS. clutch, transmission, and nearly everything on the car. A PPI lists all defects and lists (estimated) repair costs at (XYZ Shop) for your information. The PPI is not done by ht e seller, private or dealership, no conflict of interest. You are paying for a non-biased evaluation.
A PPI is not cheap, I have had quotes of $260 - $350 and 5 hours needed for inspection. Either you or the seller delivers the car to XYZ Shop, leave it there, and get the results. Even if a car "appears to be OK-Good it is a worthwhile investment cost to find out what condition a car actually is. $$ amounts can factor in your buying offer and give you positive knowledge that you did not have before. A low cost of ~$300 is not a waste or large sum to bet on a car that may/may-not be worth more/less.
I have been looking for a 996 C4S for a while now and they are all over the country. I can't do the PPI myself, let others who know about do it. Another option is to find someone local to where the car is, and hopefully, have them go look at it and give you their opinions and observations. A Porsche generally is too expensive to just take a chance that it may be OK. A little "search money" is needed to help you along. JMO.
YMMV
Thanks for compliment.
I am not exactly "new" to Porsche. Former Indy Porsche shop owner/tech, race-driver, etc. Owned 912. 914/6, 911T 2.4, Carrera 2.7, 911SC, 930 3.0-3.2-3.3, 935 Multiple Porsche Parades, Tech, Concours, Hillclimb awards. 3 degrees, so I can spell and write correctly most of the time.
