Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Test drove a 2004 Base model in the dark red on grey manual; 50k miles, two owner, very very clean and could not spot any mechanical problems. Has bose and premium package I think. It's a dealer who wants US$14,500; the prices on these seem to vary so much hard for me to tell if I should bother to negotiate or wait. What is the range of the true market value on something like this? Could not find any mention of the dreaded IMS in the carfax.

POST 2Original post

Factor in another $3,000 for the IMS replacement. $17-18k for a 2004 is pretty hard to take. I've had the 2004 SE, and I'm now on my 2nd 981 . I would recommend stretching your budget for a 981 . Its such a better car IMHO.

POST 3Original post

The 986 that was in tip top condition seemed civilized, unlike the usual ragged out ones that sound like a lawnmower engine. I've seen carvana 981 s for around 35$ thousand, 2013-14, 35k miles, moderate optioned base models. Fair market value?

POST 4Original post

Why IMS replacement is $3k? What type of IMS solution are you factoring in into $3k?

POST 5Original post

A 2015 981 here would set you back at least USD 60 K.. maybe that's not even for an S. I settled for my 987.2 Base and love it to bits... Here's the old 2011 girl after a wash!
