As long as you get them properly checked for the usual problems before buying - at that age it's down to condition - either would be good.

I’m chatting to them about it, the great thing is they can also run all the maintenance I would need.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings folks, Benjamin over in Germany here. I’m on the hunt for a daily driver, and am toying with the idea of a 996 4, 4S or Turbo. Im nostalgic for the 986 that began my Porsche adventure 15 years ago. I’m looking for buying advice, cautionary tales and gentle encouragement.
Currently my top 2 prospects are

That Millenium Edition looks a well cared for example. Many years since I had a 996 but always preferred the 2WD versions.

Thanks for the tips. I’m looking down the 996 Turbo Tiptronic Route. As a daily it seems to make sense to have a relatively regular colour (which puts me off the crazy violet of the millennium edition, god knows how you get a stone chip fixed!).
This one is available local to me, and it looks like it’s pretty good and has history. I’m erring toward 4WD both due to the comments here about the Mezger motor, and needing grip when we get snow. When it snows in Germany it’s “fun” if you don’t have either amazing tyres and or Allrad!

PCCB's are great but do get them properly checked as the car is 20 years old, and although they should be good for many more thousands of kms there have been instances of cracks and scoring on the ceramic discs. Car looks great though.
Turbo looks fantastic and great spec. Agree with others, you must get the ceramic brakes checked out .... they are mega expensive. Good luck with the purchase.
